Are they targeting those people? It has always been my understanding that CBD targets a niche crowd - beer people. The lights could stand to be dimmed and some music turned on, but to attract Olive or Twist crowd, you'd have the change the entire concept of the bar and probably redo the entire inside. Besides the fact that they probably don't even want to be that kind of bar, don't y'all think that's a bit unrealistic without some serious scratch as well?

I'm not telling him to make his bar olive or twist. But spend some time in there and you'll understand why people like it. It has a vibe and atmosphere. CBD does not. Maybe paint the walls, change the lights, play good music, hang some art, etc... Just decorate the place and liven it up.

It will take some scratch to do so, no one ever said that was a stipulation to not consider.

I agree with that.

Changing lighting and painting walls isn't what I would consider expensive scratch. That's pretty cheap to do and do it right.

Southern Eagle down here has way too much power and fricks the little guy. If you don't sell enough Canebrake they will not supply you with releases like Ghost. At least not much.

That's so retarded. I don't like Canebrake but will go into a place solely for the purpose of checking if they have Ghost (or one of the other specialty brews).

It's also less true than it used to be. That system was always of questionable legality, but people turned a blind eye to it. Now thanks to some accounts throughout NOLA raising a stink, they are actually enforcing that such practices are illegal. That's why you're seeing DDH Envie at places that can't even turn over regular Envie with any degree of regularity. I want to stress that it's not completely dead, but it's less prevalent that it used to be.

I can see the distributor's view point on that. Why would they send high demand beers to places that aren't as likely to sell it quickly?

Maybe, but that could be solved so quickly and easily via a webpage or social media page listing it.

Then there's the counter example, Rouses here in Mandeville (hwy 22) got a shite load of Envie in in the beginning of the year and threw it in a display, away from the beer section, for months. It's late June and they're still trying to sell 12/24 Envie.

It's not retarded and does happen.

Go into 504 and talk to Patrick or Jason about it.

Not true either, when Ghost hits town it goes from a day to a week later and it's gone.

CDB and O&T are completely different, I don't want music if I'm trying to watch a game. The food is a nice start and I think changing the lighting would help as well.
As far as paintings I think the custom beer paintings are a nice touch.

Yeah CDB is not trying to be a wine upscale joint but does not some touching up

Fix the lights. They give it a hospital-esque vibe. That would be a huge step in the right direction. As others have mentioned, the place just feels sterile.
Get rid of the smoke too. That is a huge turnoff to women.

The problem with CBS & PH is location. Corporate is dying. if there were a service road from Essen to College those businesses would be booming. But because its not convenient to get to they arent bringing in a ton of people. When that is happening it is hard to re-invest back into the business.

Koto was just torn down for a new hotel so that might help out in the coming years.

I was saying that the policy is retarded, not doubting that it exists if that's what you mean.

Oh sorry, misread. I would say it's not a written policy but their focus is the grocery stores to move their supply and they don't give a shite about specialty craft beer stores like 504 and it's sad.

504 would move any high demand beer quickly just like Elios would. They don't get a ton either.

Yeah I quit going to the Cove when I put down smokes 3 years ago. I'm good on second-hand smoke

That kind of thing is frowned upon around here.
