We're happy to see solid discussions about this stuff still going on. There's alot of things said here that we've come to recognize as y'all have for awhile.
Recently we've expanded the patio and we made the corner to the right of the entrance into a dart room and some of the guys working here are going to try and start a league in July.
But I ask you what you would have us do to improve the atmosphere. We've got sports on every screen, cornhole, arcade games, a pool table and an actual dart board for steel tip darts. Secret Lair does food a couple days a week and consistency is improving. He debuts his new small plates on Friday.
There's always ebb and flow to all businesses. We've definitely seen our share of that. We're generally slow until the sun goes down. That's our time.
As far as carrying only one half barrel of Bud that was literally a day old, we're always going to put local beer first. That's what we do, at this point these breweries are our friends and the Louisiana beer will always be first at CBD. Look at where the industry has come in the state since we've opened. We've seen the whole culture of beer styles change multiple times in 2 years. We only brought that keg of Bud on because it was a checkpoint of how freshness of beer had become that thing on a international scale. AB did a nationwide test run to see if fresh domestic would improve sales, quite the tip of the hat to growth of a culture and an industry if you ask me.
We're always going to try to accommodate you guys better and we're working on it still. Just give us sound ideas and we'll see what we can do.
Cheers

Promote the food would be my guess. BR seems like a place that likes to have a beer on the side instead of making a trip just for beer.
Also, the market seems pretty small.
You can always try the "sex sells" approach. LL might be willing to make a comeback.

Yes please
No place in town has a better taplist. There's enough taps available maybe (and I'm throwing up in my mouth writing this) having Miller Lite and Bud Heavy on a couple of taps would be a good idea. I have friends that are just very closeminded to craft beer, they just want the Great American Lager
The food is very good, and a needed addition IMO. As for atmosphere, look at The Cove and Port Royal. Both have a great atmosphere. Tweak the lighting, make CBD feel less....sterile. Your competition is The Bulldog, beer first, then food. Chimes is food first then beer. And Bulldog is there for the taking, CBD consistently has a better taplist

Relate it to a menswear store.
Selling a polyester lined suit with plastic buttons could bring in more customers, but could hurt the image of the store if your goal is catering to a high-end crowd.
The suit fits a niche, but it may chase away other customers if your name become synonymous with Mens Warehouse.

Let me make this simple
We really don't give a crap what other people drink
The hate for big beer is their use of money and lobby influence to actively affect legislation that hurts local beer development
Now we all see that big beer is losing the battle, so now they are in acquisition mode. From that, we have seen a general halt in innovation from those purchased labels. The whole system is quite disappointing.

I told myself I would not chime into this thread but I want to add the distributors. Southern Eagle down here has way too much power and fricks the little guy. If you don't sell enough Canebrake they will not supply you with releases like Ghost. At least not much.
I know there are different distributors around the state so I am just talking about GNO.

Fix the lights. They give it a hospital-esque vibe. That would be a huge step in the right direction. As others have mentioned, the place just feels sterile.

Go to Olive or Twist and hang out in there for a bit. No reason you can't give CBD a similar vibe.

Are they targeting those people? It has always been my understanding that CBD targets a niche crowd - beer people. The lights could stand to be dimmed and some music turned on, but to attract Olive or Twist crowd, you'd have the change the entire concept of the bar and probably redo the entire inside. Besides the fact that they probably don't even want to be that kind of bar, don't y'all think that's a bit unrealistic without some serious scratch as well?
