BR doesn't have the clientele to maintain 2 craft beer bars and yet somehow it is argued that they have more craft beer demand than NOLA.

I find this pretty hard to believe especially after seeing many beers fly off of the shelves throughout the entire city.

I think the problem isn't that BR can't handle 2 craft beer bars but that the quality of craft beer bars we have are pretty lame. The Bulldog is a pretty nice place IMO. CBD has a great selection of beer but about the establishment is as stale as it can possibly get. If the environment was improved at CBD, I am pretty sure it would keep asses in seats. Also CBD refuses to sell the regulars which stops some people from bringing their friends there. That's where the Bulldog is winning. They get people there because of the Bud/Miller/Coors beers and then the patrons decide to try something different

Both Chimes locations always have a good craft selection, plus the Abita/BMCs of the world so everyone can find something they like.

Olive or Twist almost always has some really good stuff on tap, and in bottles/cans.

Pelican House... actually I have no fricking clue because I haven't been there in a good while.

My last time going they actually had a couple that got seated on side of us get up and leave because they did not have Bud Light. Needless to say they weren't exactly the nicest to the waiter either when he told them they didn't carry it.

Well... bye.

I was there recently sitting at the bar and someone wanted a Bud Light (or maybe an Ultra) and the bartender sold them on a Catahoula Common if I remember right.

Went for the first time this past Friday. I came away pretty impressed. $5 Moscow Mules, Sazeracs, and a few other mixed drinks. $2 Commotion and a few other Urban South pints at $2. They were out of Jucifer but had Modillion at $5 a can.

I still go to CBD every time I'm in town. I am looking for beer more than atmosphere these days, especially when traveling for work. But it is so sterile and void of charm or atmosphere, save the bartenders who are cool to talk to (which happens all the time, because I'm always one of 3 people there).

I don't think the owner cares as much about CBD as he does The Cove, which sucks.

I'm really enjoying Driftwood downtown. I've had Opus and DDH last weekend, the atmosphere is way better than CBD, and it beats going to the stupid Draft House.

I am biased, though, because I can walk there from both the house and the office.

Their menu is ok, but good luck getting any of the first five beers you ask for. Happened last three times I went. Won't be back when CBD is across the parking lot, no matter the atmosphere.

You really have to tip your hat to him. He is playing the craft beer game like Trump is playing the Media.

Bingo. You have to respect the game.

Pelican House is still open? I never thought they would hang in this long.
