Sue Zemanick leaving Gautreaus

I'm not sure if already posted but Ole Sue is leaving Gautreaus after 12 years. Just had a child and is picking up stakes. I'm curious if the failure of the two failed offshoots had anything to do with this. Both Marti and Ivy were short lived and couldn't have made financiers happy.
That being said, I'm sure Sue was getting tired of the menu at the Gaut and is looking for a fresh start. She did say she's going to have a popup inside Blue Oak BBQ for the time being.
Anyone hear any scuttlebutt?

Know nothing about the scuttlebutt but as long as the roasted chicken stays the same I'll be good.
And while that is an incredible dish and the only place I'll order it I'm sure that in itself might be enough to sway her decision.

The word is she is working on an Indonesian restaurant, same as the popup she's working on.

The original owners/chef left at Marti.
I know many here loved gautreaus but it was never high on my list. Hope she gets a chance to spread her wings at her next spot. Indonesian sounds promising.

Marti's closed over a year ago. They blamed it on the streetcar construction and the slow summer - that was summer 2015.

That's such a troubled location. Makes it all the more remarkable how successful Perisyle was there.

Gautreau's has been a perinnial Top 10 in NOLA for good reason...through several chefs. It is awesome and will be just fine. A new chef is about to spread wings.
And WTF could you not like about the place?

I'm really sorry to hear that.

My opinion is their menu, and a few other highly regarded f&d board spots, lacks the flexibility and imagination I look for when deciding where to eat. I never said I didn't like the place, it's just not in my top 10. I'm not sure why that's controversial. It's an opinion.

I can see what you mean. While I cannot attest to flexibility issue (I usually stick to menu items as described), there are some imaginative dishes but mostly familiar ones with a kicked-up sauce. But this is totally their goal, their "about me" describes "a menu that is both inventive and down to earth." And they do it very well.
If there is what's considered the old-guard of restaurants in the French Quarter, I've considered places like Gautreaus and Upperline to be like "newer old school" places for Uptown folk that don't want to bother going to the FQ.
