I don't see how that makes or breaks a beer bar being titled as great or world class.

I've been at the cove before with a guy or girl sitting 3-4 seats down smoking Reds so much so that I couldn't smell the IPA or whatever I had in my tulip glass at all. Plus Smoke smells especially in that concentration make me damn near sick to my stomach.

If they want to allow smoking they should have ventilation systems that pull clean air in and that BS out very effectively.

IMO, bars should allow smoking. I don't smoke (regularly) but the two just seem to go together well.

That's how I feel and I hate cig smoke. Just go to a bar that doesn't allow smoking.

Exactly. I think it should be up to the business owner if they want to allow it. Then people will go where they feel comfortable.

The smoke doesn't bother me one bit and she has banned it downstairs during crowded special events before.

And I already gave my lengthy diatribe a few months ago on why I think Avenue Pub is awesome and world-class.

Never has made sense to me. 20% of the population smokes. Why businesses ignore the other 80% in favor of the 20% never ceases to amaze me.

And yes, the smoke bothers the hell out of me. Especially in a setting when you're supposed to be enjoying the aroma of a world class beer, but all you can smell is some chump's cigarette smoke.

I've had stouts, porters, belgian quads and dubbels, IPAs and winter warmers on cask in the last few months.

The entire population doesn't hang out at bars. I'm willing to bet that more than 50% of bar flies smoke.

When it comes to bars do you think smokers in general comprise a higher % or that people smoke casually when the go out?

I don't know. Just wondering if they make more money

It's like anywhere else.. If you're at a table where people aren't smoking, it's not too bad.. If the guy next to you at the bar lights up, it's turrble..

I'd say bars and casinos get a higher percentage of smokers than anywhere else..

Me too. I'm so glad Dallas has a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants.

Wish Louisiana would join the 21st century and go that direction.

I could see Louisiana having a smoking ban but joining the 21st century is unlikely.

f that, private businesses should be able handle that themselves (dont smoke). Louisiana blue laws are what need to go

I bet the percentage goes down in craft beer bars. There is a direct correlation between intelligence and the likelihood that you will smoke. And we KNOW that craft beer drinkers are smarter than BMC drinkers, right?
