Hot southern maid donuts blow krispy kreme out of the water. Cold southern maid however, just doesn't do it for me.

They were really good last time I had some.
That would be early 1970s. Gave up donuts around 1973, a few years before I gave up french fries. Gave up whole milk in 75. Don't miss any of that stuff. But I sure do miss sharp cheddar and dry Swiss. Hmmm...sharp cheese and a nice red wine. Gave up cheese 15 years ago.

What's the point of living??? No donuts, no whole milk (not all the time, but occasionally it's DELICIOIUS), no cheese.

Get 'em hot and with a big glass of milk or a hot cup of coffee. They go good with both.

Here's a fact.

Elvis did the only commercial of his life for any product on November 6, 1954, for Southern Maid Donuts. He sang their jingle. "You can get 'em piping hot after four PM, you can get 'em piping hot. Southern Maid Donuts hit the spot, you can get 'em piping hot after four PM".

I agree with moderation in all things. But some things are easier to give up for health purposes. I really never had a taste for sweet. So donuts, candy, ice cream and cake were easy to skip.

Once I went to skim milk for a couple of weeks whole milk tasted like butter.

Cheese ban was imposed on me by the wife. It's saved me a lot of fat grams.

Something I will not allow when it comes to food.
Don't tell me I can't eat something.

BTW, Zach, you look different. More tanned.

You evidently haven't been to the original SM in S'port. Sad.
