I searched on here and on google and couldn't find anything recent. Are there any must try place there?
I've really only been downtown for dinner.

Zolia Bistro is fantastic. Small plates, interesting sandwiches, etc.

Otherwise, Stroubes does a decent little lunch menu as well.

All the ones mentioned are good.

I'll throw in Faye's. Great sandwiches.

Probably why you didn't know they had been closed for almost two years...

ETA: and yes, that BBQ-Bacon burger was legit

Down town is really lacking on the lunch spots in my opinion, IPO is ok and a nice change from the other stuff around, chef there is always mentioning his James beard cooking invites etc. Tsuanami is good on top floor of shaw center, Capital city grill is pretty weak, llyods and Harringtons are avg at best. Just around the corner from down town is skyhook cafe for something different.

I usually go for Stroube's or Capital City Grill. Never did get the love for Harrington's. IPO, the few times I went, the were always out of several things and what I had wasn't exceptional - but it's been a while and has a new chef since.

Little Village is also a decent choice. There's an oyster bar opening on North Blvd. soon. Jolie Pearl or something. I sometimes like to venture across Gov't to Beauregard Gallery & Bistro. Cool place with good specialty sandwiches.

Not really any "must haves".
Schlitz makes a good pizza
Pastime has solid calzones
Po'boy Loyd's has good po'boys
Faye's has good sandwiches
Fresh has good salads and wraps
Frostop has good diner food
Riverside patty has solid burgers.

The one time I went there I got a salmon sandwich and the salmon might as well have been a piece of chalk. Driest and blandest salmon I've ever had.

Because they take small plates to an extreme level. I've been there once and spent a fortune for a tiny amount of food. No desire to go back.
