Celebrating a birthday dinner (mine) tonight with the wife at SoBou in the quarter. Looking forward to trying something new and branching out from the same old. Menu looks solid. Anyone who's been, can you give rec's or a small review of the place?

Never had a sit down dinner, but I've been to the bar for drinks and snacks several times.
Place has a fun atmosphere, especially for a group. I've always found the place a little overpriced, but still solid.
I would probably be looking at the duck leg for and entrée and the sweet potato beignets are good.
Sorry for limited knowledge, but figured I would chip in.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks OBrah

Place is awesome. Go for the chicken hearts and tuna cones.

I've had the Taylor Bird Sazerac and the "Sunset in the Courtyard" cocktails. They were both great but the sunglasses with the courtyard cocktail was kinda cheezy.

This in a nutshell. I wouldn't recommend it to non-locals for dinner, but it's not a bad spot to stop in for drinks and a some bar bites.

I had dinner thanksgiving evening. It was a special menu but it was awesome. Hopefully you'll have a similar experience with their regular menu

I was hammered, but seem to recall the boudin balls were good.

Wife and I hit up SoBou for some drinks and light eats this past Saturday for our anniversary. We had reservations at August (fantastic as always), so wanted to get drunk and have just enough food to hold us over. We split:
Seafood chowder - excellent. would get again
Sweet Potato Beignets - unreal! They were covered in a foie gras sauce all on top a maple honey sauce (at least that's what it tasted like to me). I want to go back again for these alone. Truly fantastic.
Crawfish taco salad - meh. it was way too bright. I liked the spice in it, but there was way too much vinegar for either of our tastes. The "taco" shell was great, however. It was a rice shell (I believe). I would not order this again.
We do plan to go back sometime to get those beignets and try some other items. The drinks were good too, though I don't recall what we had.

Thanks for bumping this thread. Forgot I never gave my review.
In short, it was great. Drinks were on point and the small plates and apps were all fantastic. I took pics and will give a more in depth review later tonight.
Only downside was my large plate, duck I believe. it wasn't terrible but the portion was small and wasn't as tasty as some of the apps. Should of stuck with a few more small plates and another cocktail. I will say the white chocolate and cherry bread pudding was incredible.

My thoughts exactly. It does appear this is a place where you go for drinks and apps rather than a sit down meal. My salad (though not technically an entree) and your duck along with what others are saying seem to support this.
I have friends coming in town this weekend, and we may do a midday stopover on Sunday for just this.
