My initial stocking run is complete...

I already had the Sauza Hornitos in the liquor cabinet. I bought Dickel and Maker's, Macallan 12 year, Ketel One, Appleton Estate and Bombay Sapphire.

I now need to work on the supporting stuff like Vermouth, triple sec, etc...

I might have to start a new thread for that, unless any of your smart people want to tell me what I should get...

Kahlua, the regular and chocolate

Good choice on the Dickel, you'll like. Mix with a little coke tonight.

Get small glass bottle 6-packs of tonic and club soda, so you don't waste a big bottle by cracking one open for one drink.

Also get Angostura Bitters, Rose's Lime Juice, Triple Sec (any kind) and Martini & Rossi Sweet and Dry Vermouth

I keep Triple Sec, Rose's lime juice and grenadine on hand.. Club soda goes flat quickly, so I but it, when I need it.

That's a nice little collection.

For dry vermouth, I like Noilly Prat.

I haven't found much difference among triple sec brands, just about anything will do.

As suggested above, the small bottles or cans of things like tonic water, club soda, Coke, and other mixers will keep you from wasting larger bottles.

I always keep Angostura and Peychaud's bitters on hand. These will last a long time, as you only use a few dashes per drink, and they are high enough in alcohol to keep them stable at room temperature.

For citrus juices, I would get fresh fruit as needed. Although oranges, limes, lemons will only last a couple weeks in the fridge, freshly squeezed juice will taste much better than anything from a bottle.

I use dry vermouth for martinis and sometimes in cooking. Sweet vermouth is a necessary component of cocktails such as Manhattans and Negronis.

I keep both around, but rarely use sweet vermouth.

Neither. They both will just take up space.

You should always have two or three nice chilled white wines, a couple of chilled sparkling wines and an assortment of red wines.

The women in my house (and those visiting) can drink mimosa's anytime of day or night and can knock back several bottles of white.

Get some good highball, rock, wine and champagne glasses as well as a good ice bucket and a nice glass pitcher, good corkscrew etc...

But really all of you should get a group discount at Betty Ford.
