No, but if you can get downtown in the next hour, you might be able to catch Anna Marie's Shrimp stand at the Red Stick Farmer's Market. (I usually buy from them at the Farmer's Market on Thursdays at Pennington, so I'm assuming they also go to the larger Saturday market.)

They are flash frozen on the boat, and some of the best tasting shrimp I've had.

Why anyone would buy shrimp from a guy on the side of the road is a mystery to me.

Some people must like spending all day and night hugging a shitter.

Shrimp trucks are a tradition, I've never had a problem buying from them. There used to be a guy on Old Hammond Hwy in the gas station across from Burlington Coat Factory, he had great deals and very fresh shrimp. Have not seen him in years.

We used to live in a small town the passed a law forbidding selling seafood from a truck, the brick and mortars complained that they were unfair competition. So the shrimp truck lady rented a storefront and then sold shrimp out of her truck parked in front of her store.

She complied with the law, I think her son and his family lived in the storefront.

What's wrong with just letting them lie flat?

Because unfrozen shrimp allow you to tell pretty damn close to how long they've been out of the water or unfrozen. Not hard to tell when unfrozen shrimp are bad.

Just run down to Cocodrie or Dularge and buy from a dock.

you dumb. some of the best seafood I've gotten has been from fisherman or friends of fisherman who sell them out of their trucks less than a couple hours after they were brought to shore. I've bought from trucks where the shrimp are still alive.

I'm calling bullshite. I've been on shrimp boats my whole life, I've been at docks that unload 1,000s of pound of shrimp. Unless that shrimp comes out the net into an irrigation tank it's dead in about 5 minutes.

Sooner or later, you're gonna have to stop believing everything that Mommy Bat Man warned you about. Remember when she told you not to do something, you didn't go blind, did you?
