Seafood at the Lakefront

So, I'm in NOLA visiting family for the week. (relative with terminal cancer).
So, after we leave the hospital last night, everyone was a little bummed out, and definitely ready to have a few cold beers and tell some old stories.
So I was like: Let's go out to the Lakefront, and eat some boiled shrimp and crabs.
And my sister, who is a lifelong NOLA resident says: "You can't. There's only two places left near the lakefront. One of them is really bad, and expensive. The other is just OK, but really, really expensive."
So we ended up going to Mandina's. Which was OK.
But I can't believe there's not a reasonable, family style seafood place near the Lakefront. What say the FD Board?

I like Blue Crab. Not too expensive and good food. Im also a fan of N.O. Seafood & Spirits but its in Bucktown and not on the lake.

Well there is also Landry's in addition to those other two places.
I wish Jaeger's would move back out to the lake. Just a little something missing being next to a Raising Cane's on Clearview.

The GOAT was Bart's.
That place was a massive party at all times.

Which one was really bad? Neither is all that great but I wouldn't call either really bad. Deanie's was nearby. And R&O's.

Brisbi's and Blue Crab are both viable. Neither are that expensive
maybe she is talking about Landrys

Guess she didnt know about those two options. Lakefront has been a disappointment since the storm. Everywhere else in the city is better now but the Lakefront. I know it's finally starting to get better. I'm very excited about Tipitinas Festival grounds project.

The place that she's saying is bad is Landry's. That's the big one they built up over the water? I've been once since the storm and I wasn't impressed.
The other one she's saying is really expensive....i can't remember but it wasn't Blue Crab. Maybe I will suggest Blue Crab tonight and see what she says.

I like the food at Blue Crab better but there is an Ole Miss happy hour at Brisbis from 6-8 if you want to toss a couple back and get your mind off things. They're next door to each other.

Landry's is a shitty chain. Its in the building that used to be Joe's Crabshack

Brisbi's happy hour is legit.
Is that Tipitina's thing actually happening?

They are going to develop west end again once the Corps finally gets their arse out of there. Until then you have Blue Crab which is fine and no more expensive than Mandina's.

Turns out that my suspicions were confirmed. She's just a snob. Nothing wrong with the seafood choices at the Lake.

Brisbi's is a solid spot. Decent burgers and salads and such.
If you can catch their happy hour during the week, it's a nice spot for oysters and drinks

I hope you are right about them developing west end again, but I heard a while back that it wasn't going to happen.
Man I miss the days of riding my bike out there to watch or play volleyball then eating or partying at those places.

This is not correct. Blue Crab does a good job with their seafood and are reasonably priced.
Brisbi;s is a different (more upscale) experience but also does a credible job with the food.

Yes, it is. And it is called Lakeshore Landing.
The WWII Museum's PT Boat and Amphitheater are going to be legit. Curious to see who ends up running the restaurant, but if that is solid, I will be ecstatic.
