My parents will be in Savannah the next 3-4 days and I’m looking to give them some recommendations on where to eat. Already checked The Grey and it’s booked solid. Any advice? TIA.

They accommodate walk-ins (at least they did in October). Can always try to sit at the bar.

Repeal 33 just down from The Grey if you can't get it

Treylor Park. Fried Bologna on back patio FTW.

Go to the Grey Market and get the burger - it's fantastic.

Treylor Park and Hitch are both really bad. It's bad cooking and most dishes have a Guy Fieri trashcan nacho aspect to it. Definitely avoid.

Common Thread for dinner
Stone & Webster Chophouse
Elizabeth's on 37th
Tricks Barbecue for easy lunch
Pizza and beers in Starland Yard
Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room for lunch M-F
Husk for Sunday brunch
Leopold's Ice Cream

Must see
The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist
Monterey Square
Forsyth Park
View from Peregrin rooftop bar

Just spent 7 months in Savannah for work and must say it's a disappointing food city.

Some good dishes (scored flounder for one) to be had at the aforementioned places for sure, but overall fairly average especially with Charleston down the road. Including the Grey -- great atmosphere, but did not find it special.

I did enjoy cocktails and seafood at both the Wyld and Sea Wolf (Tybee) if they venture out of the historic district.

I love the Wyld, but I’d find your opinions a bit less than persuasive if that was the one place you found to be good.

that's not exactly what was said ... the entire city is just okay dining wise. And I ate at every single place of note. Not to say I didn't enjoy my time ... just not impressed with the food.

I follow.
But I would not recommend the Wyld for food.
Great outdoor eating on the marsh yes.

Haven’t been to Sea Wolf. New one at the very end of the island?”

As an aside, I’ve only been to Charleston a few times, and I was not overwhelmed with the food there either other than a sandwich place that I can’t remember the name of. We liked everything but nothing was special.

agreed ... The Wyld for boat drinks and the view.

Sea Wolf is a hip, but well appointed oyster house/bar with a patio. Behind the post office before the big right turn to the beach.

Interesting. Never been there.
I like AJs for good outdoor eating, mediocre food and fantastic desserts. Haha!

One the best places in town was 80e. Owners got tired of running it during Covid.
