Anyone know the dealio? Did the Arzi's person sell the shitty place, or are they just going to open another shitty place?

Also, what are they building on the side of Rouses on Airline in BR? I know a 5 Guys and a dental place are going in up front next to Starbucks. Rouses employees don't even know, or at least they won't say it if they do know.

I'll await the Izzo's posts.

Very healthy food. Rich in fecal matter and PCB's. Really though, they're all over NWLA and the food is pretty bad. All imported seafood, dirty locations, gross finished product.. Was decent a few years back but quality dropped like a rock.

Sounds like it will fit right in to that spot.

Well that's encouraging.

KFC needs to come back.

Never had a good report from any of the locations around here, Monroe, Bastrop or Farmerville. I haven't eaten at one...and will maintain my streak..

I don't understand who keeps opening these shitty places. They are all over Shreveport/Bossier and every single one that opens seems to close within a few years, yet they continue opening more.

FWIW, my dad was saying years ago (before the glut of locations in the area gave more credence to the theory) that he somehow knew "Sam" and that the whole chain existed to take advantage of tax breaks for foreigners.

Open a location, hand it off tax-free to your nephew in a few years, nephew makes his money, rinse and repeat. At first I wrote this off to my father's usual anti-Muslim rhetoric ("Sam" is Arabic) but I've now heard lots of people saying the same thing. And considering the food's quality, it makes a lot of sense.

They started in 2008. Today they have 51 locations in 9 states. They are making "frick the Food and Drink board" money.

I hear people like my in-laws claim that the [foreigners] with businesses "don't have to pay taxes."

Are there truly any tax exemptions for immigrants who have a business?

What I find online says this is an urban legend (of which my in-laws believe every single one).

quote:

Despite stubborn rumors to the contrary, immigrant-owned businesses have the same tax responsibilities as those owned by U.S. citizens.

There is no grace or forgiveness period under which immigrants to the United States are allowed to live, according to the Internal Revenue Service. Immigrants to the United States must pay normal taxes such as income, property or sales taxes.

No idea on Sams but I'd venture to guess it will close before Jones Creek is finished.

I think the Five Guys might be going up in that building or one on the Antioch side they are getting ready to start. The front building is way to small next to dentist office.

Five Guys, a dentist office, and a cell phone store will be in the strip mall by Starbucks. I heard Another Broken Egg would be opening by Rouse's next year.

I've never researched it myself, but what I've always heard is that immigrants can "donate" their business to a relative either tax-free or with heavy incentives to do so, Shawshank Redemption style. This could be complete bs, just one of those things I've always heard but never thought to google.

Well that's what I was told but that is going to be a small Five Guys.
