Family will be in the city for one night in late July. Looking for fine dining experience besides our regular Restaurant August or Herbsaint. We'll be staying Poydras near St Charles. Looking for walking distance only.
TIA

Desi Vegas for steak, plus the view is nice @ Lafayette Square.

Café Adelaide is another good option.

Hearing good things about Sac-a-lait, you could try the new Ursa-major which just opened.
Marcello's is nice, but haven't been overly impressed with Balise.

I finally went to Balise last night and thought every aspect of the experience was excellent. I'm not sure if they reacted to concerns over portion sizes or what, but my husband and I split two small plates (cobia and brussels sprouts) and the burger, and it was more than enough food. Some of the best service we have had lately as well.

Is the worst complaint possible. We eat ourselves into food comas three meals a day in this country. Give me a few small plates to share and a bottle of wine to split. Of course, I'm not a fatty, but I used to be for my size.
