Prayers sent. I lived in the Beri for 2 years.

Bon Creole has excellent overstuffed Po-boys
There's a little cafe downtown -- Victors. They're pretty good
Duffy's Diner makes a decent burger and fries

There's definitely some good food options there. Plus, if you've got access to a vehicle, Broussard area ain't that. Far away.

Most importantly, though, be sure to get a haircut while you're there.

I collected these names for a recent trip to NI. I went to a couple of the spots.

Bon Creole - The place is beyond low key. The food was good. You leave with your clothes smelling like fried seafood.

Bon Creole

Victor's breakfast is supposed to be very good.

Victor's Cafeteria

Cafe Jefferson - Very good food in a great setting.

Pho ly ly if you like pho, pad Thai, etc

Kk cake shop downtown has good soups and sandwiches. Victors is close by and is worth a visit even if to just say you've been. Cafe des Amis is also downtown and has good food.

Bon Creole is good but you will smell like a grease fire when you leave.

Tokyo has sushi and hibachi. Not great but the best da berry has to offer in that department.

A decent Mexican joint in a shack near walmart but I'm drawing a blank on the name. Tampicos is edible and has a decent margarita and cold beer.

There is a decent burger joint on 182 heading outta town. A bears maybe.

1)Go to Legnon's and get a lb of head cheese.
2) Stop at grocery and get box of club crackers and a 12 pack.
3) Go to hotel room and drink beer while eating head cheese
4) Profit

Solid advice. The Berry sucks for restaurants.

Viator's has the best burgers
Theriot's has good plate lunches
El Mexicano is probably the best sit down Mexican place in town
KK's has a pretty good gumbo

Others will probably blast me for this, but I really enjoy the buffet at Landry's (not the chain). Great shrimp n' egg stew and catfish courtboullion, and lots more.
