What do you get if you go to a corner store/gas station type place and they have a limited selection of BMC/Abita?

I've been known to get a Lime-A-Rita in a pinch. Middle of the road craft beer can usually be found in most places in bottles. Craft cans are harder to come by.

I don't usually go to that sort of place for beer. If I did and I really needed some beer for something, I'd get the Abita. Probably Amber, maybe Turbodog.

something like Abita. Or Steel Reserve.

There's a gas station off the I-10 by Pass Christian that has an insane beer selection (For the venue). Like all sorts of Stone products.

Believe it or not many of the gas stations including 7/11 and whatnot are carrying craft beer here in Florida. Not a wide array mind you but certainly Sierra Nevada, Stone and the like. Many carry Cigar City or other Florida brews.

Some like Rally have rather good selections and I even found BA Old Raspy there not too long ago.

If I'm in a shite bar like ZeeZee's or Spoon: High Life/PBR

If I'm in a somewhat shite bar with only domestics, or somewhere only selling domestics: Corona

If I'm at a gas station: Sweetwater IPA. It's at every Circle K in the city, including the one I normally walk to from my apartment.

ETA: I'm not a "beer maven and beyond" though..

I noticed that during our trip to Orlando last month. Think I saw Sweetwater, Terrapin and Cigar Brewing all in one of the stations, along with SN and other more widely distributed crafts.

Wasn't even a nice gas station.

I assume I'm in the "beyond" category. Almost all gas stations here carry Deschutes stuff. Most carry some, if not all of the following: Lagunitas, Laurelwood, Bridgeport, Elysian, and Breakside. I have never resorted to Widmer Bros or BMC.

I don't trust the freshness of the IPAs, and most of the damn breweries won't print the date on the label, so I go with Deschutes or a beer that doesn't need to be fresh.

I rarely find myself in this situation. I have a lot of good beer at home and there are plenty of taprooms around. Supermarkets have a good selection, too, for the most part.

I stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere Washington that had a better beer selection than probably any store in the state of LA.

It rivaled Specs. It was incredible.

You know how the gas stations down here outside the city limits all have the beer chest up front with all of the beer iced down for folks to come in and buy their single? Well the main one I stop at on the way home has the 22oz andygator sitting there with all of the BMC. That is what I get often.
But when I'm down the road and coming home and need a roadie, I will just get the budweiser.

The bodega on the corner of Lyons and Magazine has an ok craft beer selection considering it's in LA.

there are a few gas stations around Shreveport that have a LA beer section that will carry Abita, Great Raft, Bayou Teche, NOLA, etc.

so they are not all wastelands

Picked up a six pack of NB shift at the Chevron the other day on the way out to the lakes to kayak.

And two twist top coors lights....
