Anyone have a pressure cooker recipe for jambalaya? I wan to try that method instead of using my cast iron pot. Found some online, but I trust this board more than some of the recipes I saw. Most of them have tomatoes.

TIA

I feel it would be like serving mashed potatoes if you tried this

If you go ahead with it, report back

just kidding to each their own but i just don't see the point. you still have to brown everything before you pressure cook and by the time it comes to pressure you may save like 5-10 minutes?

I would just recommend Karys or Oak Grove Jambalaya mix if you want more convenient easy jambalaya.

Pressure cooker ain’t gonna work

After rethinking, It might work in a rice cooker. I’ve made quick jambalayas like that before.

Jambalaya is a one pot dish and is not complicated. Sure it takes a little time to do it right but why would anyone want to try it in a pressure cooker or a rice steamer if they have a cast iron pot?

It's like trying to cut your lawn with a weedeater when you have a mower. It just doesn't make sense

Disappointed this wouldn't work. I don’t make it anymore because I always burn the bottom or make it too wet or some such screwup.

Ended up doing it the traditional way, because I didn’t have a good recipe and all day to do it.

Don’t know what people shite on trying to cook it in a pressure cooker. I agree it would not be the same, but sometimes people don’t have the time to cook it the traditional way.

It's because the below statement doesn't work for a Jamb.

A pressure cooker doesn't really shave much, if any time off, and the results would be inferior to just cooking it in a cast iron pot.

I don't see anyone "shitting on" your idea either. You asked for advice. Don't bite the hand that feeds.

I've heard a couple guys claim they could do it. Both turned out like white rice cooked in chicken broth with sausage and chicken mixed in. One guy even used hot dog wieners.

How do you brown the meat in a rice cooker?
