New Orleans is on our short list of possible honeymoon destinations. I am looking for good, but not break the bank, hotel and restaurant recommendations. We want to eat well but not go broke doing so. We may go do one expensive night out but mainly are looking for solid food at a good price, not a tourist trap. What do y'all say? TIA!

AirBnB for cheap rooms. It pisses of some people, but frick em.

Food

Not break the bank would be happy hours and counter service type places.

It also depends on your idea of break the bank.

We haven't set a date yet, and the stay will probably be a week. I have never been to NOLA, and she went to Mardi Gras years ago. I have no idea where to stay. Off Bourbon. We like to drink but not party like we are 21.

It is always the same recommendations when people ask, but it depends on how much essential food you want to mix in with off the beaten path.

Essential food places and the usual most people can tell you. The off the beaten path places you have to drag out of the natives. I have to get TigerWise drunk and trick him in to telling me the local places.

Consider....
Parkway, Cochon Butcher, Domenica, Luke (Happy Hour Oysters), Mr Eds in the quarter, Cane and Table, Oxalis, Shaya, Parasols, EAT, St James Cheese, High Hat, Toups, Delachaise

Good List

As it gets closer the trip, check in with the food and drink board.

You can consider lots of B&B options

Use RateDrop.com for hotels. Email me and I'll walk you through it.

I'm staying at Le Pavillon for $98 next weekend.

If you do go for an expensive meal one night I highly recommend Commanders Palace.

Garden District bed and breakfast 2000 block of Magazine. Great location can walk to bars, restaurants, shopping, etc. I would do one good meal at Commanders or August. Other cheap but good places: Peche, Parkway, Felix's, Sylvain.
