Wonder what was in the "Schwag Bag" ... Was the food AYCE? It doesn't look like they were leading people to believe they would get free beer or free/cheap small pours .. Looks like they got exactly what they were told they were going to get for $30 .. I could see being pissed if they charged $100 or something .. but $30? that ain't that much money, really ..

ETA: really just sounds like an opportunity for the same crowd to trash the place on here ..

The place is pretty crowded every weekend .. The parking lot is full .. They're appealing to someone, Rouge .. My guess is a handful of butt hurt beer snobs really don't have an effect on the place and that bothers them .

Pelican House is doing terrible business and struggling to stay open from what I've heard.

If you had gone, paid $30, left with a shirt, a bag of crap, and no buzz, you'd be ok with that? After having gone to a "beer" gathering?

People feeling ripped off in this thread aren't conspiring about the place. They've legitimately felt ripped off there on more than one occasion.

If they would have just added "Beer available for purchase" or anything along those lines, I don't think people would be as ticked. But...I am sure PH knew if they added that no one would buy a ticket. People don't go to beer events for the pork sandwiches. Likewise, those breweries can't sell product by just talking about it (or can't sell near as much)...at the very least, free samples would have been a win/win for both PH and the vendors.

Well, they literally have three similar bars in the same .0876 square mile area .. but they seem to be doing OK ..

1. Bartenders who don't GAF and are too busy chatting to serve.
2. Being out of beer I choose.
3. Slow service or people who don't know shite about the beers.

This is actually a pretty good summary. And I'll restate-I've known the owners for years, and they are great guys. I WANT them to succeed. And as Rouge noted, good competition makes all the places better.

They should have had an option to get in the door for free and not get any of that other stuff. I would rather just buy the beer for what it costs and not force me to pay $30 for food I dont want and a shirt thats going to be thrown to my cats for something to lay on and whatever swag is.

$30 isnt much but lets see what I would have had to spend for me and the gf to go.

$10-12 Uber there
$60 to get in
$50 or so on beer
$10-12 Uber home.

So around $130-140 for us to go out and drink maybe 3 beers a piece. Thats absurd. The price would probably be $200 because I would have to go somewhere after because of my sore butt.

How many dollars from each ticket went to the naked lady?

Who decided a way to better stimulate conversation with brewers is to bring in a naked chick? While everybody's having to pay for beer...

Thats what some of the people in the beginning of the thread said. I have zero problem charging that amount and giving those people wristbands or whatever. Just give me the option to come in for nothing and spend my money on the beer.

The place is big enough that they could have just had the wristband people/free stuff in their own section if they wanted and the rest elsewhere. Oh well.

Yeah .. the link works ... Calling it the "Delta Brewer's Ball" does make it sound like it is going to be a party .. Still doesn't say free beer or free/cheap pours .. but it does give off the air of a party atmosphere ..

All I know is that CBD's popping hot pork rinds> PH pulled pork.
