Is Peche possible without a reservation? What kind of wait time might we have? Would a week night be any easier than a Friday night?

you could always check opentable.

I walked by Saturday around 1:45pm and it was only about 25% full. you could have easily grabbed a table. like you said, though, it would depend on the day/time.

I have never had a table always ate at the bar. They put out a place mat and everything...

I've made reservations every time and likely wouldn't have needed them. Then again, I go at odd hours.

Already have. 4:30, 5:00 or 9:30 seem to be available for several nights.

I think we'll take our chances and see, just may go a different night than planned.

There's the liquor bar and then there's the raw bar, which I usually sit at. It's dinner and a show because you get to watch them prep and plate food.

I'm also an advocate of going mid afternoon since they're open all day.

Open Table can be misleading because some restaurants only allocate a certain number of reservations to OT, so even if OT is showing no room, it doesn't mean there's no space.

I've never had to wait more than half an hour for either a table or a couple seats at one of the bars to open up. If it's just two of you, you should be fine.

I've made reservations each time, but I've been at lunch when it was obvious we didn't need them. Don't know about dinner. Probably depends on day of the week and what's going on...conventions in town etc...

Don't depend on Open Table. I've called restaurants many times and gotten a table when there were none or gotten a time not available on OT. Give the restaurant a call. You could also ask about showing up and what kind of time you might have to wait if its are booked.

I always sit at the oyster bar, but that's with two. You shouldn't have a problem.

It's a slow week. Walked into Shaya for lunch today at 12 and they had numerous open tables. Friday night with no reservation would probably still be difficult unless you went odd hours.
