For those asking where to eat downtown...put this at the top of your list.

People will bash you for endorsing a chain but not me. I ate at the one in Dallas and it was phenomenal!

That's right near Vic and Anthony's downtown.

They are the best steakhouse chain I've ever eaten at. Kicks the shite out of Ruths, Mortons, Sullivans, Del Frisco's, and all the rest. Been to the one on Westheimer and the one in Dallas. Both spectacular. Better than Vic & Anthony's.

Seems strange to open this one only 15 minutes away from the other one on Westheimer and right near Vic & Anthony's though.

they're trying to tap into that high dollar lunch crowd. half of those o&g big shots in the buildings right there go to massa's, mortons, the club at houston center, guadalajaras, etc. there's plenty to go around for everyone.

Damn right there is. The Pappas family knows very well what they are doing.

I agree. However, when I brought it up a while back in response to a Dallas food question I got blasted,

Just typical people talking out their asses and never eaten there. Pappa's chains have never gotten too big where the product declined. Impressive

Might be a chain. But it puts out amazing quality. Right up there with any stand alone steak house.

Food is good. Best steakhouse IMHO. They don't have a wine list, they have a wine encyclopedia,

Went there for Valentines Day . Wife and I were leaving at 11:45PM, and there were a line of cars pulling up.

It will instantly be the best one in that group, imo. Pappas and BotB are too close to call for my favorite steak in town.

You're right. We do.

And technically it's a chain. However, I tend to distinguish between nationally franchised huge volume chains and local, limited, or obviously higher quality chains like Vic and Anthony's, Pappas Bros, Ruth's Chris, etc.

Yes their wine collection is crazy and the sommelier knows his shite. Had a business dinner here (Houston location in the Galleria) a while ago and one of the guys in town from London was a wine "guru", they were talking about all sorts of grapes and harvesting methods. I think I heard something about unicorns and southern decadence during their chat. I don't know anybody that works there, but I've heard that the waitstaff there make pretty good money and for some it is a career rather than a job.

It's the best. Plain and simple

I wouldn't call it a major chain. They have a few but that's it

This is in another league
