What's the best panini to get at Panera Bread? I'm going there for lunch today, and I've never been.

Do the half sandwich and salad combo (it's a pretty big salad).

The best thing about Panera Bread is the scenery.

i believe in your ability to pick a sandwich with meats and cheeses that appeal to your taste!

Fresh food at a decent price tickes me off too.

Define "fresh" and "decent" price? 2 pick two's with no soft drink is over $22. That's hardly a bargain or "decent" price.

I have no idea about the prices where you go, but I don't spend $11 for mine.

Panera.

Have you seen the prices at fast food places? Unless you are getting the value meal, you are spending a lot for crap food.

Very meh. The location on Jefferson Hwy is a traffic nightmare.

I can get a ultimate grill chicken sandwich with a side of apples and a small drink for $7 at Wendy's. Is the pre-made chicken better at Panera?

Mine came out to just over $10 per person, not bad at all considering it's better than something like McDonald's or Subway.

Steak and cheese panini was good, but that broccoli and cheese soup is really really good. I could get a big bowl of that with just some bread, and go to town.

Definitely wouldn't define it that way. Had a grilled cheese there that was clearly made with the "non cheese" type product that won't even melt. It was completely tasteless. Disgusting.

so roughly speaking, you have consumed 2 pieces of bread, and a slice of cheese and have decided the entire place is terrible because of that slice of cheese?

i have no dog in this fight, as im pretty indifferent to panera. seems pretty standard issue for those fast food places that are trying to be a cut above.

I'm pretty sure panera gets all of their food semi premade and delivered by truck. No scratch cooking going on

We order from there once every week or two. I use the online site where you can very easily customize everything. I'll get the Pick two and add bacon to the chicken caeser and maybe some other veggies. Then I pick a basic sandwich and completely customize it and chang stuff like cheese, bread, sauce...and add bacon.

The best part is I pay online and it's sitting on the counter in 10 minutes for me to grab. Whole process occurs without ever having to talk to anyone. It helps I'm about 5 minutes away.

I do agree it's not cheap and comes out to $22-25 for two people. But that's not too bad for something's that tastes good and makes it easy to get exactly what I want.

That's what I mentioned earlier, but that poster disagreed with me.

For decent fast food that isn't a shitty burger and at least the ones here they never screw up your order? I'll pay the $11 for the occasional meal if that's the case.

To the OP, I'm a fan of their low-fat vegetarian garden vegetable soup with pesto. It's pretty filling for a low cal soup. I usually do that in a Pick Two with a half roasted turkey and avocado BLT.

I've been to a few of them several times and was never impressed with the food, but I've brought home several loaves of bread that I enjoyed very much.
