That's disappointing. I really enjoyed the first batch of Opus Vert, and preferred it over ghost. I like hazy IPA's/Juicy IPA's but sometimes i want something a little different. I found OPUS to stand out amongst the 3 brews.

100% agreed

I haven't had new opus, but I doubt they are using the same recipe just scaling down the Abv and hops.
Envie is much lighter and softer tasting and the 6/13 batch was clearer than previous batches. Noticeably different from ghost.

I can't judge opus to ghost yet but they do look similar in appearance. I do hope it's not as similar as others are saying, but if it is, in sure it's still fantastic. However, they need to stick with the original recipe for opus. That was a fantastic beer. Why mess with it?

So he turned Envie from a shelf turd to his biggest seller... I'm sure he really regrets it

This

And what BugAC said. Envie is similar but noticeably different from Ghost.

yet 4/20 is the freshest batch you could find around town until a day or 2 ago.

From everything I have heard it holds up incredibly well even after 90 plus days. I have only had it once and it had a little age on it and I thought it was incredible. Had it side by side with a fairly fresh Zombie Dust and thought it held its own.

"Single" IPA

First batch OV was awesome. If second batch comes out a little more like ghost, but lighter, I'm not gonna complain.

If anyone from the northshore is headed to the brewery soon, let me know, I'll kick in an extra $20 for your troubles.

Seriously?
Name a good "Single" IPA from Louisiana.

Now, name another good "Single" IPA, come on man, do I seriously need to do this?
Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, Founders All day, Lagunitas, Jai Alai

In my personal opinion of tastes, I'd take Opus over single IPAs of those other brands you named except for the Jai Alai. That's probably 3 or 4th in my personal favorites.

Opus was supposed to fill in the IPA category to compete with the 7% and unders, Julius

Now I've never tried Julius, but if it really is what the beer nerds say it is, then that's like saying Andrew Luck is a bust as a QB and not legit because he's not Tom Brady.

What the hell kind of logic is that??

Not sure where you live, but 3 weeks ago, I strolled into NuNu's in Youngsville and picked up a 6/2 six pack, first grab.

Parish could just "settle" for "good enough" like so many other local breweries. I, for one, fully support experimentation in an attempt to make a brew as good as possible.

Some people might say Envie holds up. I don't drink it if it is older than a month. I find it thins out and loses its flavor.

I love ghost and envie and drink them regularly but am I the only one that has problems with the "juiciness?" My gastrointestinal tract gives me fits the next day if I have more than a couple dozen.

I hate the term "juicy" to describe beers, but nah, no intestinal problems.

Tell you what, in a week when Ghost is released, I'll sit down and drink all 3 side by side. If they're all radically different, unique beers, then I'll come here and admit it. I've already done May Ghost and New OV side by side as well as Old OV, new OV side by side.

I had 10-day old Zombie Dust this past Spring and for the life of me could not understand the hype.

I think mine was about 10 days old and the Envie was almost two months.

Of course they're not radically different beers. They are all hoppy beers that use the same late hopping techniques to get big flavor with little bitterness. The hop bills are slightly different between all 3, as is the body and mouthfeel, which given the 3 ABVs, shouldn't come as a surprise.
