Their websites say 10 days for Philly CC and 2 weeks for Daisy brand sour cream. I keep them until the date on the container expires which is normally well past 10 days & 2 weeks, and have never had any problems with the way they taste. How about you?

Been burned many a time with this.

The date on the container is never accurate, it always goes bad way before that date.

I keep the cream cheese until it hardens at the corners or gets spots of green.

Cheese don't go bad, it just matures.

Same here. If it's getting close to the date, I'll do a smell test and look to make sure nothing is growing in it. CC usually doesn't last as long for me but I buy the boxed ones, not the containers.

I mostly get the plastic containers of the Whipped Philly CC because it's easy to spread. It seem to stay good for a long time.

Cream Cheese is fine, its the sour cream that goes bad quickly.

Same here. But if it's been open a while I usually smell or do a tiny taste test first.

If it smells or looks funny then toss it. Otherwise, it's fair game in my kitchen. I've held on to cream cheese re-wrapped and in a zip-lock for quit a while. We usually eat the sour cream well in advance of the expiration date.

I used an opened container of sour cream last night that was dated April 25 to make cramed spinach. It was fine as expected. Just keep the fridge well below 40 deg and don't leave it open long. I have unopened container of ricotta that was dated May and I will decide what to cook with it in the next month or 2.
Hard cheeses ,don't expire, soft cheeses you have to watch
Scuse me while I go upvote my refrigerator.

Sour cream is bad only if it has green hair growing on it.Same w/philly, rock hard or mold.
