I went through a period as a kid where I hated rice. I would gag if forced to eat some, so on rice and gravy nights, I would have my gravy over Evangeline Maid bread. Good dark roast gravy or round steak gravy or smothered chicken gravy over bread is delicious!!! I only wish I'd never learned to like rice.

Also, a hard fried egg sandwich on Evangeline Maid.

Cod balls (fiskaboller) and boiled potatoes of the same size in a curry béchamel sauce.

or

Pan fried cod cakes and boiled new potatoes with lots of brown butter.

too difficult to pick one or the other because they are equally as good in their own way.

Probably canned pears with mayo or cottage cheese and shredded cheddar with a maraschino cherry. That's what it was in my house, such a weird dish but I really enjoy it

Going to my Maw Maw's house in Gentilly on a Monday to get some of her red beans, chock full of pickled meat. She served 'em with bread and butter. Bunny Bread.

Mothers fried chicken or her beef stroganoff.

Joe D's Egg Salad sandwiches and their pimento cheese sandwiches only made on Friday, in wax paper bags and they cost a quarter and an ice cold Coca Cola in a 6.5ounce glass bottle.
