Can't get enough of Olive Garden's breadsticks? Soon, they will become a part of two sandwiches.

The Darden Restaurants chain said Monday it will start serving on June 1 meatball and chicken parmesan sandwiches made with its famous breadsticks.

Never cared for Olive Garden. But I do love their breadsticks. This is definitely worth a try.

Linked article clearly says the sandwich breadsticks will be wider to accomodate fillings.

This soft style of bread is damn easy and cheap to make. Dunno why anyone would go to OG based on the flabby breadsticks.

My personal favorite breadstick recipe is made from a naturally leavened (aka sourdough) pizza crust recipe...chewy, mostly crust, no added sugar.

But there are 100s of Olive Garden clone breadstick recipes floating around on the internet. That style of breadstick is a great entry-level yeast baking project. (Which gives me an idea for a baking class this fall...)

Wonderful news! Except for one thing. Those fries.

which will be served with fries, soup or salad

WTF? Even a child knows that you should get a side of pasta with a meatball sandwich or a Chicken Parmesan sandwich. Capellini Alfredo for me please.

ETA: They need to do one with Italian Sausage.
