There was a girl from Poplarville MS on MasterChef who opened a restaurant there. Otherwise it is extreme slim pickins between Slidell and H-burg.
Once in H-burg there is plenty. I recommend Leathea's barbecue and get the smothered beef ribs.

Keg & Barrel. Great food, great beer selection, great atmosphere.
Edit: and as the poster indicated above, great Sunday brunch.

For lunch, Jutamas. Best Thai restaurant I've experienced.

You could stop in BSL, then take old 90 back to NOLA, and do brunch on Sunday. Take 53 off of 59, down through the Kiln. Can give recs on places if you want.

We stop at Strick's BBQ, Leatha's is just too sweet, but avoid the buffet, the BBQ plates are much better.

Stricks is ridiculously over rated. You've got some good recs for Sunday but I recommend The Porter for Sat lunch. I've never seen it talked about on here but they have a killer beer selection and the best meatloaf I've ever had. Other good food too. Old Hburg on Pine across from the post office. Do it.
