What's wrong with carousel bar? They make some fine cocktails.

What's wrong? Those are must drinks for first timers to Nola. In fact if it's your first time in the city and you only have 2-3 days, I wouldn't even recommend leaving the FQ. other neighborhoods are perfect for a second visit or really long first visit.

There is literally nothing wrong with Carousel. In fact, I'd say it's an awesome place for a visitor. Is it where I go for a cocktail that will change my life? Nah. But in terms of quality, atmosphere, and experience it has to be appreciated. I'm not going there for a great cocktail on a Wednesday night, but in terms of letting someone from out of town experience something decidedly different, I feel like it's a solid stop.

Nothing although it's usually too crowded for me. French 75 is just the best cocktail bar in the quarter.

I'm not sure the hand grenade is a "must" anything.

The hurricane is more iconic and should be tried, but don't waste your time with a hand grenade. Especially if you're over 30.

I'd agree. I always shake my head when I see and adult walking around with one of those silly green containers.

Sitting at the slow rotating bar makes some people motion sick/nauseous , but it's unique and fun. Visitors should grab a drink there.

I've seen numerous people put them in their mouths and promptly spit them out. My favorite was a 75 yr old lady.

Absolutely. That's where I take anyone who wants a hurricane. Then they change their mind when they taste the purple drink.
