It's not like the strip doesn't have fat.
There's fat on strips, but I find it doesn't have the same flavor and consistency as it does on ribeyes. Those big chunks of fat in the ribeyes turn to meat jello and it's delicious.

Since most people don't buy prime, let's compare Choice steaks:
Strip:
Ribeye:
Strip:
Ribeye:

yes you would be able to tell the difference between a ribeye and strip
ribeye ftw
ribeye ftw

To each, his own.
Strip for me and yes I can tell the difference. Meat is more firm and the taste is different.
I would not turn down a free ribeye though if anyone is buying. If I'm paying it will be for a strip.

I could.
Strip is more meaty than a rib eye

Strip. All the meat is in one chunk without huge chunks of fat running through it. I have a lot of waste when I eat ribeyes.

I buy whatever is on sale. My family will eat either.
If no difference in price or quality, I will go with the strip. I just like the flavor

Bone in Ribeye for me and feel I could tell the difference.

I feel exactly the same.

I don't think I've ever had a boneless ribeye.i prefer the strip becayse it is more meaty and less fatty

If at a restaurant or at home skillet - Strip
If on the pit - Ribeye
If on the pit - Ribeye

The 'eye' of the ribeye is the same muscle as the strip but has a different flavor because of its location on the animal. I don't think I could differentiate between the two. The spinalis/deckle/cap on the ribeye is a uniquely different muscle that most steak lovers prefer. If you served me this with a strip I could definitely tell the difference.

Ribeye for me. The extra fat gives it flavor. They seem to be marbled better too but that may just be the ones we're getting. Bone in always best. The best meat is always hugging the bone.

I have no doubt.
RibEye is the King of Steaks.

It certainly is for me, but ironically, the NYS (short loin strip steak) is actually known as the King of Steaks. (I never agreed with this)

I love a good Strip, great change of pace.
But I'll kill for a good Ribeye.

NY strip hands down!! I can tell the difference. Much deeper meaty flavor profile...and i love the tiny strip of gristle on the strip...
But the ribeye breaks down into several parts of its own...the ribeye cap is pretty tasty too... wth I’ll just eat em all!!
Can’t tell strip and sirloin apart yet
Gotta be from the same cow though for a valid blind test.
