There is but one answer to remedy the situation, the same that goes for our political woes as well as the entire landscape of this city.... Choose better, and the city will be better.

I was just letting the people of the Food and Drink Board know it was coming..Not trying to talk about all that is wrong with the world.. We have much bigger problems in the world besides what I choose to eat for breakfast..

Not so sure about there being nothing more important than the community in which you live, but I hear you on the announcement. I suppose I'm just waiting for the time when new local independent eats opening up gets nearly as much attention as do chains opening up here.

Currently in construction next to the Walgreens on the corner of Airline and Highland. There is a sign out front.

That's so future St. George residents won't have to drive back to BR to "Eat Mor Chikin"

I support local eats and drinks as much as possible, but they do need to put out a quality product. Like you said, it is hard to compete with the big boys these days, just have to offer something that isn't currently being offered and promote the hell out of it.

Problem is more aligned with branding and brand awareness here. For every garbage fast food nonsense littering this city, I can easily name far superior locally owned alternatives, that I am positive that if you took a poll of people on sodium pentathol the overwhelming vast majority here have not even darkened their door step to date.

Cajun and French Creole. Yeah, Laffy. An hour in either directions yet I'd love to see a list of the top 10 independent French Creole and top 10 independent Cajun restaurants in this city. Are there 10 in either category?

It would seem that I must first find an alternative to chains in the Millerville area before I can then locate an independent that sandwiches chicken in between a biscuit.

That's proving a little more daunting of a challenge.

I'll answer that....I'm pretty sure there is no alternative. If there is one, I doubt that their c-biscuit would be near as good as Chick's.

Anywho, you must be a bumpkin if you like c-biscuits.

Because food is magic tricks that is pulled off with special fairy dust.

You're right. Fast food joints just can't be beat.

10 to 1 I can not only destroy a CFA chicken biscuit, but can kick it square in the nuts with just a minimal amount of effort in a kitchen.

With this I disagree.

But I'd need a bag of 10 of yours to know for sure.

Ironically, I could totally buy into this:

"10 to 1 I can not only destroy a [any steakhouse] steak, but can kick it square in the nuts with just a minimal amount of effort in a kitchen."

So what do you suppose is their magic secret formula, salt, sugar, and breading (flour)?

I'll tell you how times have drastically changed in such a short amount of time really. Back in the 80's I can remember the Chick Fil A in Cortana, and it being quite unremarkable and forgettable back then with few who even gave it much of a passing thought. Fast forward to today and Chick Fil A is unbeatable and people are as giddy as a little school girl at the mere mention of a location being built.

Its so strange, but I'm pretty sure its a generational difference between the times when people were more accustomed to cooking food and home cooking than living off of sub par fast food growing up.
