When I heated some onion soup for lunch just now I noticed that it's one of the rare times I use the broiler (this time to brown the french bread on top of the soup).

99 per cent of my cooking involves: baking, stove top, bbq grill or slow cooker.

What are you favorite foods to broil?

I love to drape some wonderful cheeses over my toast in the French Onion soup, and broil it. That's what I like...

A flank steak does quite well in a broiler. Cut the top and bottom into a diagonal diamond pattern very lightly(scored) so it doesn't curl up on you.

Hey, I don't make chicken salad for Lucy anymore. I taught the dogs how to make it:

I broil fish, bacon, meatballs, and my favorite is burgers. You can control just how much each side cooks. It puts a good crust on there too.

Oooh, I forgot about fish. I usually fry, saute or grill fish.
Anybody got any good recipes for broiled fish?

Get yourself some Mahi-mahi, lemon juice, butter, sprinkle of SYM. If sauce is desired make a "hollandaise" but use orange instead of lemon for the citrus.

Can't eat Mahi Mahi. Allergic. Iodine.

I broil fish more than anything, b/c I find you can cook it quicker than baking, and when you bake, it just isn't as good.

I usually do trout filets. Lay them out in a glass pan, drizle with a little olive oil and melted butter, salt and pepper (or Tony's), sprinkle with green onions and a little lemon juice. Broil until cooked (I eyeball everything. If I had to guess, I'd say 10 to 15 minutes.)

I also do the above, but instead of just melted butter - brown half a stick of butter in a pan with some sliced garlic. Once brown, add some water, a few dashes of worstershire and a little lemon. drizzle that instead of the butter and olive oil.

Only way I ate tomatoes as a kid - mom would slice them, top with bread crumbs and a pat of butter and brown under the broiler. Good stuff.

Nice. I'll keep this method in my list of things to try soon.

Try Tomate Provecale. Quarter inch slices of tomato, drizzle of olive oil, s&p, topped with a bit of minced garlic.

Can't get either at the market. I wonder if broiled catfish would work.

Go to Whole Foods ETA yeah the catfish will work, but I was trying to stretch your horizons.
