If you choose to marinade (and there can be legitimate reasons to do so), I suggest:
3/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
3 or 4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon dried mustard
freshly ground pepper
plus, you can toss in a fresh herb if you desire.
This marinade isn't as "busy" or overwhelming as it may appear in print. Marinate for 1-2 hours room temperature.
