I've always been partial to the Sandbar, right across the bridge in Vidalia.

Good spot though... I just prefer downtown,.. Walk around, several bars.
No driving.

They serve margaritas, beer hot tameles and fricking gringo pies.

Gees H, there's nothing overrated about the place.
Actually it's awesome for an afternoon after work drink or two.
Some of you are really weirdo people.

Dude, they have adverts for it in every hotel room and every attraction. You go there for mexican, they have some canned chili, some no where near mexican tamales and margaritas out of a daiquiri machine. As hyped as it is by locals, it is the definition of overrated.

It lists itself as a Mexican place.

Look I can't name a restaurant in NOLA that has brochures at every tourist spot, and hotel in the city. Fat Mamas does. They sell it as a must eat attraction. You get there and find margaritas that are really daiquiris and just okay tamales.
It's overrated.
It is listed as the TOP PLACE in Natchez on Yelp. So IMO overrated.

It is a top rated place in Natchez... Go by any afternoon when it's not snowing or flooding and see for yourself.

It's by no means a top rated "restaurant" in town, regardless how anyone advertises it.... anyone with a brain knows this.

I've had tamales and margaritas in about 100 different places and fat mamas is as good as any other I've had.
Margaritas specifically are top notch... Granted I'm not a bitch so I don't drink them regularly, but I've had my share at the numerous Mexican joints I've visited the past 15 plus years.

As I said, sorry you don't like.
You're in the minority.

A tamale (Spanish: tamal [ta'mal], from Nahuatl: tamalli [ta'mal?i];[1] plural: tamales) is a traditional Mesoamerican dish made of masa (a starchy dough, usually corn-based), which is steamed or boiled in a leaf wrapper.

Fat Mama's serves in parchment. They aren't even a legit tamale joint.

Slide yo' self over to St. Joseph, LA and check out the tamale stand downtown. Not mass produced, and a quality Spanish tamale from the region. Mexican tamales are .

Sadly, it looks as though you and I are the only fans of a tamale and brew or Margareta from Fat Mama's.

Surely there is someone else who likes the place. It is usually pretty crowded when I drop by. Now I'm unsure what all of those people were doing in there with all of those plates of tamales.

Glad to know that all I need for a "great" place in Natchez, is a few cans of Hormel Tamales, some beef chili and Margarita daiquiri mix with a catchy name.

Have been thru Lorman many a time but did not know they had a great chicken place. As for the guy going to be in Natchez, Lorman is about 30 miles north of Natchez. You can find many places in Natchez that offer nice eats. The bottom of the hill or under the hill has a nice late hour bar with live music and a nice restaurant next to it that has view of the River. Also there is a restaurant by the river bridge that was supposed to be a casino with great views of the river from the top of the bluff and it use to be very good. Then of course there are the restaurants associated with the plantations. I believe The Castle is associated with Dunlieth and has a nice lunch not sure about dinner. Anyway my thoughts.
