Grey Goose and Ketel One to be very poor values.

They are, especially Goose. It is popular due to great marketing in the 90's. I never buy it and laugh when I hear people rave about it. They are the example of why advertising is so powerful.

Kettle is very good though, but it is a bit overpriced. Tito's is great cost to flavor ratio. So is Sobieski, which someone brought up in this thread. Depends on my intent, those are the two I buy. Tito's is my go to at the moment.

Sure there's better tasting out there, but Ketel One is my favorite bang for the buck.
Ketel One is the vodka I buy most often. I can usually get it on sale for around $21. It's a very good vodka at a reasonable price.

I don't think vodkas really taste like much of anything

But if you like Tito's you might want to try Deep Eddy or Dripping Springs. Both are Texas made vodkas that most consider on par with or better than Tito's. I think they all taste exactly the same.

Deep Eddy is on my list. I preferred Tito's.

Valid point. I guess what I'm really ranking are the Vodka Gimlets, where the only variation is the vodka.

If you are ever in Dripping Springs, do the tour (assuming you haven't already).

They are a small distillery, I think 10-12 pots in their distillery building. What I found most interesting is that they have 2 non-flavored vodkas (Dripping Springs and 1876). They are distilled in the same pots using the exact same process. But its the water they add back to them that makes them different. The Dripping Springs is a top shelf, sipping kind of vodka and the Hill Country water they add back in gives it some minerals and a mouth feel. It also has less burn. The 1876 is intended to be a well kind of vodka.. the reverse osmosis distilled water they put into it means there's no minerals and it has more burn. I thought it was interesting to see how the water they use to bring them to 80 proof makes such a difference in the taste and feel.

They also have an orange vodka. I've yet to purchase any of it but enjoyed sampling it during the tour. And they have a gin which taste like every other floor cleaner to me.

None of those are very good vodkas...

I only drink 3 vodkas. Stoli, Russian Standard, and Imperia if I want something "nice"

Just like bourbon should come from kentucky, vodka should come from Russia IMO

Kind of a dumb opinion, IMO.

I like your taste, the only vodkas I keep in my cabinet are Stoli and Russian Standard.

So I hate to burst your bubble, but Stoli is made and bottled in Latvia, not Russia.

Edit: grammar

Sobieski is great...But...

Last week I needed to get some more vodka, but it was late so I went to Albertson's to get some Sobieski.

The liquor store section was closed and all they had available was their vodka...Vitali.

A handle was on sale for $9.99

I stay away from bottom shelf vodkas but I decided to give it a shot. If it tasted nasty, gave me a hangover, or the runs I could always throw it away.

It was WONDERFUL. I would love for you vodka snobs to give it a try and let the board know what you think.

You will not be disappointed.

I am simply going to add Vodka SHOULD be tasteless, by definition you should not be able to differentiate between them.

The distillation process used for vodka strips out anything containing flavor and the ABV is lowered by adding distilled water.

Have done "Vodka Challenge" many times with folks and they have never managed to pick their favorite out from any other, including some I produced.

I'm a big fan of Petergoff vodka from Latvia. It's base grain is wheat and it's distilled 6x...super smooth and tasty and only $10.
