Haven’t been in years - prob since early 2000’s if not before.

Parking lot is full most times we pass by but it’s never on our radar.

Worth a return?

Yes. Wife and I ate there last month or so for the first time in years. It was a good meal. We went mid afternoon on a Saturday.

Haven't been to the one on Lee in a while but the one in Gonzales is excellent.

I would go there for the side salad alone.

Breath reeks of garlic the rest of the day, but worth it.

Only place I know of where you get true Cajun style crawfish bisque. Have the stuffed heads and all. I loved that place when I lived in BR.

I like it.
I have been going there since they first opened the original location on Highland Rd. that didn't have a liquor license.

Its on Lee, but that location is very good, not sure about the one in Gonzales as I have never been. The Lee Drive location has incredible fried seafood and gumbo. The lunch specials are also really good.

Used to pick mushrooms in the fields behind it in college. That’s all I got.

It’s gotten a lot better than it was 10 years ago +/-.

I rember buying “groceries” ( really just bread, milk, eggs, etc) in the old College Town Gro, Started going to the restaurant that Mike put in the old bldg- College Town Seafood, as soon as it opened (‘74jsh). Phenomenal. It was really good (not as good, imo) when they moved to the current location. Then the bottom dropped out. 2000’s until last couple years were really bad there. New mgt, back to better food. Wish them all the luck.

Wasn't that in the old Collegetown grocery building?

Damn, I haven't been since 1994 in NOLA when wife and I got engaged. Being from Lafayette I was a tough sell on seafood places from B.R., but we always like M.A.'s when we were in school at LSU. Is the one on Bourbon still open ?

The last time I went, maybe a year or so ago, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a fan of their shrimp supreme. As someone else already stated, their crawfish bisque is great as well.

They have the best raw oysters, whole fried catfish, hush puppies, cole slaw, onion rings, fried crab claws and crabmeat au gratin. I've been going since 1977 and still go almost everytime I am in BR. If it is crowded, sit at the bar and you will normally see me at a bar stool when I am in town.

People have been saying this for years. If true, and it probably has truth to it, it makes one wonder why the location on Lee hasn't tried to improve? How bizarre.

Perhaps their heads are so far up their arse that they can't see the truth?

Perhaps they don't give a shite.

I'm been to both over the years. Early on, I liked the one on Lee better. Now days I don't really know, although the one in Gonzales is now nice-ish. It used to have a shitty decor.

However I have uppity family friends who used to live near the Lee location, yet they always go to the Gonzales location. Why? Because they like it better.

Personally, I never liked restaurants connected to hotels. And it's not like it a fancy hotel located in a fancy part of town.
