FWIW the original McAlisters in Oxford was great when I was in college. We t to pot when he sold it off, and it went super-corporate expansion mode.
The original Newks was also the shite, but I fear the same fate awaits as they expand and eventually cut corners to offset losses elsewhere. The original one in Oxford printed money for years, wonder if it still does.

I ate at McAllister's several times and never had an issue with the portions or price.
It's never been the best food around, but it's not as bad as this thread would have people believe.
That said, there is definitely potential for something better to come in to that location... looks like parking is being added behind it as well, I'm sure for the Olive or Twist/Rum House lot, but if something that brings in a decent evening crowd moves in it's going to get really tight around there.
