Lunch in the Lakeview area

I'm currently working in the Lakeview area and looking for recommendations on some casual and reasonably priced places for lunch. Doesn't have to be in Lakeview, just somewhat close by. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

If you want to stay right in LV, go over to the Backyard on Harrison. They have a good lunch deal.
Could also hop over to Bucktown and hit up R&Os.

Mondo is overrated due to Spicer's name atatched and not much competition in the area. I have found it to be terribly inconsistent in food and service. Not relevant to lunch, but the poor interior design of the restaurant and consistent gaggle of parents getting their drink on without the kids makes it unbearably loud at night.
Personally if I am eating lunch in Lakeview, it would be poboys or maybe el gato negro or Blue Crab. If I wanted something closer to Mondo in terms of food/price, I would jump over to midicty and go to Toups, Milkfish, or Rue 127.

New Orleans Food and Spirits
Brisbi's
Blue Crab
El Gato Negro
R&O's
Cava
Wasabi
Plenty of good options...
Avoid Koz's, Lakeview Harbor and Mondo
If you want a good burger, I would run over to The Beachcorner by the foot of Canal.
Another good option is Messina's Runway Cafe in the Lakefront Airport Terminal. Good stuff.

For good cheap food I would go to Chicken Sue's on Harrison or R&O's on Old Hammond Hwy.

Is there still a competition for business between Brisbi's and The Blue Crab?

I thought one would not make it when they both opened, but they seem to have both been doing wee.
The Blue Crab seems to have a ton of private parties downstairs.

It's overrated? What's better in Lakeview?

Short of you mentioning poboys, el gato negro or Blue Crab, you didn't mention anything in LV. You were also unclear if you thought any of those were better as you only stated you prefer lunch in those places.
I'm no knight for Mondo, but it's much better then el gato negro.

Because there is not much else in LV. Thus why I basically said if I am in LV for lunch I am grabbing poboys or driving an extra couple of minutes to midcity.

I did not say these are better because they are two different types of restaurants and not really comparable. I don't debate between eating at Mondo or R&O's. I go to R&O's if I want a poboy and I go somewhere else if I want something nicer, but R&O's does poboys better than Mondo does contemporary.
I am not particularly fond of el gato negro, but it can be a quick Mexican lunch which is why I said poboys or maybe el gato negro if I am eating lunch. If I am in the LV area for lunch for work, pretty much I am grabbing a poboy. If I am in the mood for or need something more upscale, then I think Midcity is close and has much better places to offer than Mondo.
If you are operating under the construct of needing to eat some place upscale and only in LV then yes Mondo is your best bet, but compared to peers throughout the city, Mondo is overrated due to the lack of competition (from similar restaurants) in Lakeview and Spicer's affiliation.
