Thanks, Gris. The mortar and pestle are HEAVY. I don't use them often enough, but still worth it when I do.

Just realized I don't really show the pestle in the pics.

Looks nice. Friday night is Thai night for us - either out or at home.

We could do this. And we may.

There are lots of recipes out there. If you use the one I posted, taste before adding that last tablespoon of fish sauce. I think it could've been slightly less salty. And I will add one more Thai chile to the leftovers.

Darla that is a great looking dish on several levels. I agree with Gris, I can taste it from here. Superb job.

Nice!

You shop at the Asian market on the Boulevard? Or the one behind Baskin Robbins? Two totally different shopping experiences. When I need to shop for Asian ingredients, I usually end up going to both. The owners/employees at the store on the Boulevard don't speak enough English to help me shop.

I usually go to the one behind Baskin Robbins. This was the first time they laughed at me! Usually very nice and helpful, but the woman who was working is not someone I'd seen before (but it's been some time since I'd been there).

I went to the one on the Boulevard for the first time last Sunday. You are so right, the guy ignored the first few things I said. He finally understood lemongrass. I bought that and some Pocky for my son.

LE, kinda like a deconstructed stuffed bellpepper? But the flavor profile, not so much.

Thank you Tommy, I think my mom was proud of my cooking, but she died before I expanded to other cuisines.

Many of you said nice things. I apreesh.

Good thing I didn't show my formica countertops and my vinyl floor! ;-)

Hehe.

Every time we talk about new countertops and floors, I get fixated on tearing down a wall and expanding the kitchen a little into the den, making it a keeping room. That would mean new cabinets and repositioning the fridge and dishwasher.

It wouldn't cost TOO much to replace the essentials. It's all the "well, while we're at it" stuff that I can't seem to get over.

Plus, my vinyl floors are so comfy and they aren't ugly. I like being barefooted in the kitchen.
