Hopefully all these new breweries are worth a damn and not just trying to jump on the craft beer train. Shreveport has 3 breweries but only 1 is worth anything, although I still think Red River can make good beer if they ever decide to focus solely on their brewery. Flying Heart sucks as much as their name does.

That's my fear for LC. We have 2 breweries under construction (Crying Eagle and Rikenjaks) and I hope they actually make beer worth a damn. I hope they aren't just doing this because craft beer is trendy and they think they can make a quick buck.

Crying Eagle is going to be pretty big to start (15,000 barrel production) but I hope they don't end up like Tin Roof.

And there's no way Baton Rouge has done of the nation's best water. You're downstream on the Mississippi, in a swampy area, with a ton of industrial and Petro chemical plants upstream. That's basically worst case scenario for good water.

A dissenting opinion

Their fb page said they were at the winter beer fest in lake charles this past year. This is the first I've heard of them.

If this is their brewery, it looks like they want to be the next New Belgium.

Mudbugs in Thibodaux sucks, but makes a killing on locals and the fact that their tap room is really nice.

Even my distributors aren't very high on them. These guys do not get out there and pound the pavement enough either. I'm about to show Arpent 41 some love on my taps. The only thing getting in the way is that Not Your Father's Root Beer is available for draft tomorrow and that is a monster right now.

Man you need to support the locals and quit trying so hard to out maven everyone. Give them some time. They will get it right.

You have to give them time to get it right. In the maven culture nowadays if you don't make a whalez offering from the jump you are complete shite.

Whalez? Just make a good IPA. Hell even Karbach can't do that.

They make very good beer. This is a great example of what I'm saying...it's not a whalez so it sucks. Hopadillo fresh is pretty damn good.
