If I gave up on every company that fricked up and didn't admit wrong doing until they were forced to I'd have to walk to work and keep all my money under the mattress bc that shite is par for the course in automotive and banking.
They were literally going into people's homes and telling them their fridge was the culprit, there are no excuses for this shite company

They fricked up, found the problem, and corrected it.
They admitted the fricked up, found and corrected the problem in a matter of about 24 hours.
Of course people had been complaining for 6 months before they did this.

And buying local works both ways. That's all I'll say about that.
Such as buy our local product that we outsource to a non local company?

My understanding was that they believed the 'off flavor' issue and the premature spoilage issue were from the same source.
IMO once they corrected the issue with the CIP and still had premature spoilage problems the FIRST place they should have checked for proper temperatures were their own storage areas. The fact that they waited 6 months to test the calibration on their thermometers was a HUGE oversight and you DEFINITELY check your own shite before going into peoples homes and pointing out that their refrigerator is a degree or two high of ideal temp.
Look I understand why people are pissed and taking their business elsewhere. I'm only saying that in the long list of companies fricking up at the expense of their customers this is way down the list for me.

Kleinpeter needs a new PR team. Whining to the press about your inability to find a competent manager isn't going to sell your product or make people excuse your product's inconsistency. "Local" will only take you so far. I'm sure if K was offering an appropriate salary, a replacement manager could be found.
The company's lame line of reasoning reminds me of John Folse's BS story on ending his cheese production. The Bulgarians making cheese wanted to retire and go back to Bulgaria...and he "just couldn't find anyone" to replace them. Total crapola. Plenty of compentent cheesemakers turning out fantastic cheeses all across the US...he simply made a business decision to end a product line and used their retirement to put a spin on it.
