what's your go-to?
I was thinking about doing mint juleps and Moscow mules.
mint julep
2 oz woodford
1/2 oz simple syrup
mint leaves
crushed ice
Moscow mule
2 oz vodka
4 oz ginger beer
1/2 oz lime juice
thought about making oaks lily but have never tried one
Oh, and I've got my hat ready. Came with a bottle opener

I do the old Walker Percy recipe:
"You need excellent bourbon whiskey; rye or Scotch will not do. Put half an inch of sugar in the bottom of the glass and merely dampen it with water. Next, very quickly—and here is the trick in the procedure—crush your ice, actually powder it—preferably in a towel with a wooden mallet, so quickly that it remains dry, and, slipping two sprigs of fresh mint against the inside of the glass, cram the ice in right to the brim, packing it with your hand. Finally, fill the glass, which apparently has no room left for anything else, with bourbon, the older the better, and grate a bit of nutmeg on the top. The glass will frost immediately. Then settle back in your chair for half an hour of cumulative bliss.”

Good call on the jars. I've got some at the house that would work

Maybe I'll drink some Ghost from a mason jar.

The mint julep is the no-brainer. I don't want anything named mule. It reminds me of the horses I usually bet on.

May be doing a Kentucky mule then

Mint juleps is the answer here.
Bourbon
Sprig of crushed mint
Simple sugar
Little water or unsweet tea
I've been waging a never ending war against the mint in the garden. Me and bourbon are fighting the good fight.......

Finest drink ever crafted, and that's a hell of a choice of bourbon

Ran by the store and grabbed woodford, cheap vodka, mint infused simple syrup (something out of Memphis), limes, lime juice, and mint. I'm good for mint juleps, Moscow mules, and Kentucky mules.

Get Woodford and makers. The makers makes it a little spicer. Also try a small amount of powder sugar; it will take some of the bourbon burn out without using a bunch of simple sugar, you know, for the ladies.
Kentucky Flu: bourbon, liqueur 43, and oj.

I've got some 4 roses if that would work also
Posted on 5/6/16 at 8:31 pm to Coater
Never tried 4 roses. It's not so much woodford vs makers specially, just bourbon on different ends of the spectrum to mix it up.
Try making your own simple sugar too. Having a your own mix in a nice bottle and a wooden muddler make you look like you know what you are doing.

Forget the sugar. Sugar is for the women and girly men. Good bourbon and mint leaves stored in the fridge to cool is what puts hair on your chest.
