lol, just opinions. All selling points if executed correctly. You are right. Will be surprised how long bumsters lasts.

The rooftop seems to be their big selling point but I can't imagine wanting to sit on the rooftop when it's 500 degrees in the middle of August.

I went a few weeks ago after a round of golf.

The smoked wings were all right but the burger did nothing for me. We sat at the upstairs bar, which at first I was against but you could feel the AC coming from behind the bar. We played 2 rounds of cornhole before we were drenched in sweat from the heat (side note the length of bags was wayyy too short).

Curbside and Merchant are both much better so unless I just want to sit on the roof and have a few drinks, it does nothing for me.

Not to mention that it seems to rain about 250 days a year.

We moved it as far back as we could go while still allowing people to access the stairs and it was still short as hell. Definitely had a few bags go down a couple stairs.

They need more fans/shade. Especially in this heat.

Went to Kalurah for first time in months last night. Definitely still up to snuff, even with the changes. Short ribs were excellent. Service and drinks were all fine. Not every table was filled, but there were still plenty of peeps dining - it's a deceptively big place.

Had dinner at K Street last night. They were moderately busy. The food was quite good, I had the spicy fried chicken with mustard greens and cornbread. I really enjoyed it.

My wife had the tuna, she gave me a little taste, it also was a nice entree. Her blue cheese wedge that she got as a starter was very nice and one of the better ones I have sampled.

It had been a while since the last time we ate there and I was surprised that they didn't offer bread. We asked about this and they said that we could buy some. We did, it was a grilled focaccia that was incredible. I forgot to check how much it was on the check, but whatever we paid for it was well worth it.

Check with two entrees and salads plus the bread and a bottle of wine was $103 . Service was efficient and professional.

Nice place to have in the rotation.

The rosemary focaccia used to be listed under the sides section and was about $4. Came with a blackberry jam or something like that.

Glad to see they are still operating well. I've always enjoyed the food.

After more than six years, local restaurateur Brad Watts is closing Kalurah Street Grill this week.

Watts opened the restaurant in 2016 with Chad Hughes in the former Chelsea’s Cafe building as a split restaurant, cocktail bar and wine bar concept.

But continued issues with parking in the Perkins overpass area, as well as uncertainty regarding impacts from planned Interstate 10 expansion through Baton Rouge, led Watts to not renew the restaurant’s lease.

A truckload of gravel is like 300 bucks. Why won’t any of these places dump some gravel in the pond sized holes under the interstate to increase parking? It doesn’t bother me since I have a 4wd truck but I’m not sure where a soy or woman is supposed to park these days

There was a chick bottomed out in her Highlander in one of the ponds near Duvic’s last week. Ole girl thought she could skip the traffic

I don't know who is responsible for the maintenance of those parking lots, but I think the bigger reason they didn't re-up the lease was the uncertainty about whether or not they'd even be able to operate once that construction starts. I was a little surprised that they are just closing instead of finding another location, but I get that's not easy.

Was in there the other day and Watts said they are looking at Fairhope for a similar concept. He, like most of us, is seemingly not super interested in permanent Baton Rouge residence anymore.

I live within walking distance of K Street and went twice in 5 years. Just never hit with me. Good luck to them in Alabama

I think the food is great, but it is never very busy relative to how large the space is. I do think parking has a lot to do with it. You physically can't park enough cars in the area to fill their restaurant. Bldg5 and Merchant have a lot fewer tables to fill.
