Hope not. Great restaurant, I would hate to see it close.

How have they not tried to change anything up? Different marketing strategy or something? What they are doing is great for me, but obviously not catching on across BR. Definition of insanity, as the saying goes.

I think the location is hurting them a great deal. The parking situation is horrible.

At their prices, their target audience is older people with money. Those people dont want to park underneath the highway in some unorganized fashion. When that little sliver of parking is filled, you have to go fight the overpass area parking under the interstate. People dont want to do that

Nice concept.

Bad location.

Hope they get it turned around.

Yeah, I really don't know what the deal is. They have a pretty heavy social media presence and there was a ton of hype around the old chef when it was first open, so its not like they've sat around silently, but it clearly isn't working.

I definitely think if they were about half the size they are, it probably wouldn't be such a money drain. That building was turned around dramatically, which can't be cheap.

Who are the owners?

Website says this, if that means anything:

quote:

Brad Watts
OWNER & GENERAL MANAGER
Brad has decades of experience in the restaurant and bar industry. From the beginning, his vision for the nearly 7,000-square-foot space that is now K Street has been to create something different, fun and memorable for patrons. Brad also owns the River Room downtown.

quote:

Chad Hughes
OWNER
Chad is an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. After owning and operating Ivar's Sports Bar for four years and co-owning the River Room, the opportunity to add something new to the Historic Merchant's District was something he could not pass up. Creating a fun, hip place to eat delicious food or grab a drink with friends...or both, is something Chad is passionate about.

I believe those are the same owners for Bengal Taproom, Ceclia & Bumsteers. And maybe another guy or 2 is involved.

Probably not.

DiGiulios is 200 feet away and is packed all the time with the crowd that Kalurah should be pulling in

Yep. Not a fan. Zero innovation in their concepts. Basically you can find the same restaurant/bar down the street. Not sure how any of these are profitable.

I dont think they are. I imagine Ivar's subsidizes the rest of the businesses that groups owns, as it appears to be the only one consistently busy

I've heard the ownership has changed hands not long ago and maybe Kalurah St & River Room is the same owner, but those downtown places is another group (same as Bumsters).

Not gonna lie I enjoyed bumsteers way more than I envisioned. The rooftop is nice and the drinks and food were good.

What? Do you only go to places that aren't like other places? Not to mention Bumsteers is literally the only rooftop bar in BR, BTR has a better taplist than 95% of bars in BR (only place I can think of that lets you get flights), and K St is literally the only place of its kind here with that bar and their style of food.... I've never been to Cecilia.

Not that I don’t agree with the rest of your post, but on a side note.. Unless something has changed, you can get a flight of any 4 beers for $10 at Chimes

I think the restaurants above are dated. That’s all. Nothing really interesting going on.

Rooftops and flights are a laughable selling point. I get they are the first for BR but that’s not saying much. These guys are helping BR stay 10 years behind.

So the people that are bringing in concepts, that Baton Rouge obviously lacks behind on, are the ones keep in BR 10 years behind?

You sound like a negative Nancy.
