He is a great teacher and I've learned quite a bit from him. His TV show with Julia Child was not only whimsical but informative as well.

His shows with his daughter on the other hand...those were painful to watch.

Since we don't have cable we often watch the Create channel and he is on there every day. I don't always care for the food he cooks but I can watch him chop all day long.

Those shows are much better than Food Network. A Chefs Life is a good one and I had the opportunity to eat at her restaurant The Chef and the Farmer last year since I have a yearly hunt in the area. Great place.

The couple shows I don't care for are Joanne Weir and Christine Cooks. Other than that most are very good. Kevin Dundin does a really good show.

Those are two I don't care for either. I just don't watch Christine. She's not enjoyable. Joanne is very difficult to listen to. I'm interested in quite a few of her recipes, but I want to pull words from her mouth and the personality is just difficult. She is SO slow. Sometimes, I just look up the recipe for whatever she's cooking and skip the show. She needs an immersion blender, too.

Oh, and why do she and the "student" eat standing up? She has place settings at the end of the island and they stand up at the place settings. I know other shows have people tasting standing up, but hers look stranger to me for some reason.

Nick Stellino just made a goat cheese, watermelon and roasted shrimp Napoleon which looked delicious and refreshing. I like some of his shows.

GG, you're not competing in the Battle for the Paddle this year?

I have no idea what that is. I don't cook in competitions if that's what it is.

I must have you confused with another poster, sorry. The Battle for the Paddle is a gumbo and jambalaya cookoff for United Way happening today in Luling. Supposedly 140 teams competing and for $15 it's all you can eat. Last year, somebody on here said they were competing in it - I thought it was you.
