America. The only place where you’re disgusting to eat a chip off the floor but totally acceptable to bury your face in another person’s privates. Eat that ground meat.

Imagine if our ancestors were as scared of potentially spoiled meat as some posters on this board.

We would have turned into a vegan society hundreds of years ago.

Imagine if our ancestors understood food poisoning and took the proper steps to avoid it. Crazy thought.

To be fair, my wife is equally adverse to giving me a blowjob as she is to eating something that fell on the floor.

Ground meat is not to be trifled with. It's different than a steak since the inside has been potentially "contaminated" when it was ground.

True, I wouldn't cook a medium rare burger with it, but I would have no problem cooking it all the way done and using it for whatever else.

Curious minds want to know the outcome after all the posts in this thread.

I opened it today and it smelled good. I made a patty and ate it. Guess if I never post again, you know the outcome…

Where were you keeping it in the interim (you posted this on 3rd)?

I put it in the fridge. I didn’t put it there originally because it was still packed with leftovers from New Year’s

Understood. Fingers crossed for you.

If it smelled fine, I'm sure it is.

Here’s my question…

How long is andouille / smoked sausage good in the fridge? I got a couple lbs of each from Jacob’s leftover from my Christmas gumbo. My thoughts are it’s smoked, so a month shouldn’t be a problem.

Smoked sausage SHOULD be cured with sodium nitrite which makes it safe in the fridge for a few weeks to a few months, depending on processing methods and packaging.

If it is not cured, it's just like a leftover pork chop or hamburger and only good for a few days.

You are so wrong. Are you telling us that a smoked sausage or andouille are the same as a pork chop?

Don’t know what smoking does and why it was implemented?
