I think it's a combo of people here probably preferring it be board folks/not open to the general public, and also how much was going on yesterday. Opus Vert release.. Graduation..

Yeah a lot mentioned about going to one of the Beer Release Parties and others mentioned cooking for graduations.

A different day may have had more participation.

I thought about coming from Metairie and participating until the date was announced. Yesterday was my sons 1st communion.

May is always a busy month for events - weddings, graduations, festivals, etc. But I thought this would've been a good choice with baseball away, Mother's day just past, etc.

Just the graduations and beer releases knocked people out. Should try it again during football season and pick an away game and have Jeepfreak put the game on a screen or something.

The whole thing just seemed kind of odd. It's a TD thing open to the public. I think most people don't mind meeting up with others from here, but it's weird in a situation like this.

It was for the public or open like that because if it was just for food board or TD members it would have never taken off.

I like the way we do our jamborees because it's small and private this was more of a public event.

There was even some kids and families out there yesterday so it made it much more fun.

Yep, the Jamboree takes off because of the gracious host.

ETA: not saying jeep wasn't a great host.

A lot of people think they can cook because there family and friends tell them it's good. When you cook for the public and they have to pay/ (or in this case be judged) for a plate it's a different story. Most people can't cook as good as they claim.

Congrats for crafting the food board mission statement.

I thought it was a really nice event. Jeepfreek did a great job organizing it. Yes, there were a lot of the bar regulars there, but that was certainly because he wasn't getting a whole lot of help from the food board. He has some great regulars at his bar. Kudos to Jeep. I was impressed what he pulled off with what he had to work with.

Glad money was raised for some good causes and I'm sure plenty of fun was had. Wish I could've made it down, but it just wasn't going to happen this weekend.

So let me get this straight.

Originally you were bashing jeepfreak, the bar, and this entire event. You basically shite all over it.

Now you are praising jeepfreak and the event while simultaneously taking a jab at the food board for not having more of an appearance there.

Maybe pick a side of the fence to stay on.

Btw, why are you posting on this account? Are you banned on your main account?

I think Jeepfreak very wisely and classily backed off on the promotion of the event in the tread, so that it would stay viable on here. It's pretty obvious that management wouldn't sit here and keep letting someone advertise for free. Jeepfreak did a great job on all accounts, with that in mind.

And yes, I am pointing out the fact that food board foodies in general neither supported the event, nor participated, with the exception of Otis, Bossfloss, and a few others that so kindly donated. I get it, though, if it's not closed for the clique, and "outsiders" are there to taste and judge, it's different - i.e. your family and "friends" telling you you're a good cook.

Once again, tip of the hat to Jeep, Tigerpaw, Rat, HeyPaul, etc. Great event, guys.

I concur, it took some time & effort to do what they did.
