If anybody has any questions about pricing let me know. I am in the natural stone business.
Bringing this thread back, in case mouton is still around and able to help out!
Found a few slabs locally- white piracema, River Blue, Del Mare, and Steel Grey (leather finish)
Steel grey I'm thinking will be the less expensive option, as it doesn't have nearly as much movement as the others.
Anyone have the steel grey in their home?

Post a sketch of your counter layout and I can let you know what I would charge. I am in Savannah but I don't see the market being that different.

Have any pics of the slabs?

How much did they quote you on the brown Fantasy? It's a beautiful stone and really reasonably priced for a quartzite.

Here's a pic of the kitchen layout. Phone is acting up and not allowing me to post more than one photo per post, so I will add a couple more later once I'm home.

Most stone yards here won't quote a price. The quote comes from the fabricator. Installed, about $100 per sq. foot.

Kitchen currently:
Flooring:
Steel Grey Leathered finish:
Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the others I was looking at... a few more that were on my short list were the Brown Fantasy and White Thunder, but I feel those would be too light.
My original choice back in November when I started pulling everything together was to use Caesarstone 5133 (Symphony Grey).
It was only this past week that I started exploring granite as an option, as the price I was quoted for the quartz was more than what my contractor had budgeted. (Could still go that route; id just have to put up some funds to make it happen. Hence the steel grey, which would be the compromise)

I like the steel gray.
I also loved one particular slab of white piracema, but when it was time to choose, none of the slabs available were as attractive as the one I fell in love with, which was already spoken for.
ETA: Your floor is dark. Don't be afraid of something light on the counters!

I will have to look up cost on the colors you mentioned when I get to the office on Monday. It will at least give you a barometer as to whether you are getting a fair price.

Darla how many slabs did it take for your kitchen? 100 bucks a foot honestly is really high. Did you have an ogee or waterfall edge? I can get brown fantasy from a couple of my suppliers for ten a foot though other suppliers are 17-18

That's a really nice kitchen.

Have you ever looked at Virginia mist? Really gives a look of soapstone, but it's granite. Love ours and need to find another really long piece. Honed is beautiful, but I have polished. I looked in yard after yard and only found it in Baton Rouge. Forgot the name of the place, but can get it if needed.

Thanks! Actually, my kitchen remodel is over. Someone else revived this thread in search of granite for their own project. Maybe this suggestion will help.

Darla your kitchen rocks.
Just curious how much you spent? no worries if you do not feel like sharing
