Yep. Never had a problem.

They keep a few decent rotating taps.

I think he's implying that black people eat in there.

They are going through some ownership issues. Ryan is getting bought out. He was usually making sure the kitchen ran well.

My only issue is with the stale draft beer selection. I love the atmosphere, the food is consistently good and I struggle to think of a place I'd rather sit for a few hours and drink beer while hanging out with friends.

It's my kind of chill atmosphere. No loud music pumping through or bands playing too loud. No smoke to deal with. Kid friendly. Adult friendly. Step up the beer to Chimes East level and I'd be happy as a clam.

Chimes East is still a great place to hang out, and the beer selection is great. Wish they had one up here in Alex

Whole area is infested with hippies and hipsters. Lots of Thug POS trash hang around when some rappers appearing at the Varsity.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with some sense in this thread.

You know, I'm closing in on the half century mark, and the whole area of Chimes and State has always been a place where the alternative group lived and hung out both when I was in school and now. If there's one thing that's changed, it's that the area has gotten cleaner, a lot cleaner, and a whole lot more developed than when I was that age with multiple nice new complexes for kids to live in, communities if you will.

The gay bars are still down the street as they were when I was that age. The Chimes is still the Chimes, and we had the Bayou which served to attract the hard core sex pistolisque people. Head shops? Yep, they were there too. Although the Bengal isn't there, the neighborhood is relatively unchanged from back when it was around those areas of town.

I think perhaps the only thing that's really changed here is that you got old in the head.

My brother walked out of the one on highland.

He told me, him and his wife went to chimes. The server was like the server from chotchki's on office space. Very peppy and upbeat.

My brother asked him for the beer list. The guy says, "we don't have that anymore".
my Brother, "what do you mean you don't have it"
server, "yeah we stopped carrying them because they were always out of date"
brother, "alright. Well i'm looking for a good stout. What good stouts do yall have?"
server, "we don't have stouts"
brother, "what do you mean you don't have stouts?"
server, "yeah they are seasonals. stouts aren't in season right now"
brother, "what? that doesn't make sense. Well just give me an unsweet tea"
server "we're out of tea"
brother, "fine just give me a coke"
server "do you want any appetizers?"
brother "sauteed crab fingers"
server "we're out of crab fingers"
brother, "dammit, WHAT DO YOU HAVE?"

Then he said they walked out. I probably would have asked for the manager, and let him know how stupid the server was. But my bro just got angry and left. It's a shame because i like chimes. However, most of the time i go for brunch. Not regular dinner.

I haven't been to either location in a while. But the last time I went, the food was as good as ever (I usually get a burger or fried seafood). And the last time I went to Chimes East, which was about two years ago, they had St Arnold Endeavour on draft. shite, you have that on draft, every other tap could be Bud Light and we would still be cool.
