last time i went to outback it must have been 15 years ago

took my parents there today for their anniversary, food was good but.........

the menu was 6 pages of BS with hardly any way to make heads or tails of things, so the waitress had to show me what page of the menu to find the steaks at on the menu for a steakhouse.

there were like 1000 different sides and yet even the waitress couldnt answer a simple steak and potato order,

i ended up with a headache trying to find shite on the menu so i just told her what i wanted and she ordered it for me

i mean if there are only 3 steaks on the menu, all with or without bone, then you should put that right at the top of the menu

so i can choose rib eye, sirloin, or NY strip, then you can show me 1000 sides and i'll still go with a regular baked potato

old man shouts at cloud rant over with

Since they took rack of lamb off the menu, I have not been back.

Don't know about OP, but most people outside of major cities don't have a "good" steakhouse around. It's only chains.

This is strictly a you problem. Do you have trouble reading? It’s a restaurant menu. These things are not complicated.

She couldn’t answer your order? Wut
What questions did you have that she couldn’t answer?

Like you, I went to an Outback a while back for the first time in at least a decade.

I recall thinking the steak was over seasoned as they always were. I do not recall being confused by the menu. Biggest disappointment to me was that the croutons weren’t like they used to be. Never cared much for Outback overall, but they had the best croutons around.

Outback has been crap for a few years now. It's pretty sad, as they were dependable forever. I avoid it at all costs now, but I do end up there maybe 1x per year and it has been bad since covid at least.

My parents loved this place, so we'd always end up there when they were in town. So to posters that throw shade... not everyone needs more than this type of restaurant for celebrations.

Funny timing. I also went this week for the first time in probably 15-20 years. I stuck to the bloomin onion and wings/apps.

It's alright if you treat it as pub food.

It's Honey Wheat Bread not Pumpernickel. I know because I was a waiter at the Lafayette location 20 years ago. The food isn't nearly what it was. It's just common chain food now. Everything was fresh back in the day.

I went a few months ago for the first time in years and it's definitely not the same it was 20 years ago. The wings back then were criminally underrated, and the quality of the food seemed way better. No clue why they changed some of the classics. I probably do know, but still.

The blooming onion was still good, but it destroyed my stomach. More of an old guy problem than theirs, but nevertheless.

Oddly enough, I don’t get steaks at outback. I love the place but I always get the peripheral items. The blooming burger is probably my favorite burger of all time. The blooming onion is a really good app. The pasta is really good too. My favorite steak there was their strip steak but they took it off the menu during covid. Oh well.

I went recently.

Still think the food is good for the price point. It’s a fraction of the price of Pappa Bros, so I don’t expect the food to be that level.

That place was money about 10-12 yrs ago when our kids were young and pickup was how we treated ourselves to eating out.

My favorite was a 9oz Victoria’s Cut filet with horseradish sauce, a baked potato and some of their green beans that seemed to be soaked in bacon grease. Now they don’t have the green beans or the horseradish sauce anymore. Terrible mistake.

Outback was my go to 20 or so years ago when I was traveling for work or wanted to treat myself. But I stopped going a while back. My wife and I went there a couple of years ago for prime rib, and it turned out they only had it on the menu during the weekend. (I’m going to Outback as a treat on a Tuesday, I ain’t eating there on a Saturday night.)
