With tomato season nearing, people will be eating more BLTs. I love this tip on doing a bacon weave for a BLT. I'll be using it for BLTs, burgers etc...

I recently had a BLT with a softshell crab added. It made for a very nice sandwich...

blts don't need crabs or 'weaves' ... just some nice, ripe tomatoes ... that's the key ...

along with a gin/tonic ...

Doesn't need crabs, but it sure tastes good with them. I think it's needs bacon, though, to be a BLT and a lot of it. Love the weave idea to fit flat on the bread.

If I don't want bacon, I have a tomato sandwich with fresh bread. I don't toast the bread on those.

I've done this for a while, it does work well. I'll do a 3x3 weave for the bf and usually a 2x2 weave for myself. If he wants a lot of bacon just add another weave. It holds up when cutting and eating the sandwich, plus it's just kind of fun to make!

grew up eating tomato sandwiches, but I'm not a fan of Mayonnaise anymore, what would you substitute? I also like mine with sprouts.

You could mash up avocado and mix it with a bit of plain yogurt or spread it on there plain. Avo makes a great sub for mayo for a lot of sandwiches, in my opinion. I like to mix it with a little mayo, though, but it's good alone, too.

You could use an unflavored yogurt, alone, as well, if you want something creamy with your sandwich.

A bacon weave is a nice touch to add to a cheeseburger too!

I know I am ready for tomato season!

That looks so damn good!

I would probably go into a food coma after trying to eat it, but I would definitely try it.
